The interview
What were your initial thoughts on the difference between eyesight and vision?
I never considered that eyesight and vision are two separate things. That vision has to do with brain function and how you perceive the world. I just knew in my journey that the eye therapy, the week-long boot camp that Dr. Appelbaum offered, was my next step.
What specific vision problems were you experiencing before visiting MyVisionFirst?
The vision problems I was experiencing before I went to MyVisionFirst™ - fogginess, having trouble reading and retaining information, understanding what I was reading, terrible eye fatigue from both reading and using a computer. Really, lack of confidence in myself and began to withdraw socially.
What was your biggest fear if these vision problems remained unsolved?
My fear, if I didn't solve my vision problems was, I would just continue down the rabbit hole I was going down. Where life was becoming more of a struggle and it was no longer fun and I was not achieving the vision and the goals and the things that I really wanted to do with my life.
What specifically made you reach out to Dr. Appelbaum?
I had learned about Dr. Applebaum's work. He spoke about brain inflammation and eyesight. And I had been very familiar with the therapy and what he was talking about because as a first grader who was repeating first grade, I had gone through similar eye therapy that Dr. Applebaum provides.
What other treatments had you tried in the past?
Things I've done in the past was, I worked with a biological dentist, I've done every cleanse, I've worked holistic nutritionists, functional medicine doctors, I've done the gamut.
What surprised you most about the MyVisionFirst process?
Everything was fantastic. The people, the process. Dr. Appelbaum. I tell you, it was the most fun I've had - the best vacation I've actually ever had. I was amazed at the changes that I was undergoing. I remember on the first day when I actually felt a 'click.' My eyes glide into place and communicate with my brain.
How did working one-on-one with a doctor impact your progress?
Working one-on-one with an eye doctor throughout the boot camp was pretty incredible because they could really help me understand what was going on with my eyes and my brain function. That's something I had seen since my 30s: I try to start something new or do something and I would just automatically give up and get overwhelmed. I could never understand why that was. Once I understood that, within that first day, everything changed.
How has your life changed since completing the program?
I found not only did I improve my vision and my brain function, but I actually feel like I got a part of myself back that I've been missing for a very long time. I wish that people that are considering the program at a later age... it's never too late. We can change and grow and live a wonderful, joyful life. I no longer feel that I'm alone and struggling in the world.
