The interview

What has surprised you the most about joining Speakeasy Mastermind?

I think what surprised me the most is how on par people's excitement to connect and kind of be very open about what they know or who they know or their expertise. It's one of the first times I've been in a community where a lot of other people are as forthcoming and also proactive and actually following through on creating connections.

Can you introduce yourself and your business?

My name is Alex Snyder. I live between Playa del Carmen and Mexico City and my business is Leaders Who Build. And essentially, I'm a strategic growth architect who works with entrepreneurs and executives who are in growth mode. I help them shift from over-functioning and being a bottleneck to establishing the strategic plan and then operationalizing that with a high-performing team.

What was your professional network like before joining Speakeasy?

Before Speakeasy, you know, I'm very fortunate. I have moved around quite a lot, so I have a really wonderful global network. But Speakeasy has really given me this global network of, you know, vetted and ready to connect individuals who are extremely talented, extremely ambitious and extremely genuine.

Was there a specific moment when you realized Speakeasy was different from other communities?

There was a particular event that was being held that was really intended to create a connection in the moment. I've actually been to that event in other communities that I'm in and it's great, but the combination of how well it was facilitated by the Speakeasy team and a member of Speakeasy and just the clarity and caliber and action-taking of everyone participating just put it at a level ahead and above.

How has the community impacted your daily professional life recently?

Even just in the last few weeks, I've made connections where I am now, like communicating on a daily basis with people like we have just become really trusted peers very quickly, because people are coming in just as they are. I think that's the Speakeasy vibe, you know, enables that. It's very refreshing to meet other people who are so genuine, so authentic and so appreciative.

Can you share a specific 'win' or breakthrough you've had through the mastermind?

A really interesting win is that since last summer, I have been starting to have the feeling that I would be maybe shifting my time and splitting my time with more of a city vibe. Through very genuine conversations with Eric, one of the co-founders, I asked him about locations. He said they were opening in Mexico City and looking for leadership. It naturally came together for myself to step into the captaincy of this city that I was spending more time in.

What would you say to someone considering joining Speakeasy Mastermind?

The honest answer would be it depends on what your objectives are, what your priorities are. Of course, it would be easy to say, of course, it's worth it. You very easily get energized by the people. You will get inspired. It's ambition, you know, iron sharpens iron. Beyond that, though, is the network and the conversations and the collaboration and the stages you get invited to.
