The interview

Can you introduce yourself and explain how Vector helped your studies?

My name is Anree Bogart, and I'm coming in from Hilo, Hawaii. I'm a communication major, so Vector definitely helped build those skills. My public speaking got a lot better. Speaking in front of strangers is a lot easier now, and I'm a lot more confident doing that.

What was your work situation before joining Vector Marketing?

I was just helping pay my way through college. I was working at a baseball stadium in San Diego called Petco Park, but I just kinda wanted something that paid a little bit better, and Vector offered that—a job that was gonna pay better and be flexible around my school and the men's soccer team.

How did you first hear about the company and what was the application process like?

I found the letter in the mail, and from there is where I applied. In regards to the mailer itself, I wasn't too sure what it was at first, but it was very simple. It was just like email, set up a time for an interview, and I said 'sounds good to me.'

Did you face any skepticism from people you know about taking this job?

I definitely got some negative feedback—still do, to be honest, from friends and family occasionally. It very much changed once the paycheck started rolling in and they saw my skills and just me, like, personally develop and grow.

Do you have a favorite customer story from your time in sales?

In my second summer during a big sales competition, I had a customer I prejudged and didn't think was going to get anything. I did the presentation exactly how I was taught, and they bought a lot more than I thought. We now have a good relationship where we talk every couple months, and they even give me to-go boxes of food when I visit San Diego.

What surprised you most about the culture at Vector Marketing?

The positivity really surprised me, where your manager and those around you really want to help you hit your goals. It was nice to have these random strangers be like, 'yeah, we want you to hit your goals just as much as you do,' and they genuinely did.

Why would you recommend this opportunity to others?

The main reason is your personal development. It doesn't matter how long you do it for—two weeks, two months, or two years—you're going to feel a change. You'll become more comfortable talking to strangers, and see your communication and time management skills grow.

Speaker 0: Alright. My name is Anri Bogar, and I'm coming in from Hilo, Hawaii. Yeah. So I'm a communication major, so Vector definitely helped build those skills. So just being able to my public speaking got a lot better. Speaking in front of strangers is a lot easier now. I'm a lot more confident doing that. Being able to formulate what I'm thinking into full sentences is just all in all just so much easier now after working with, I guess, hundreds of people and dealing with thousands of strangers. Yes. I was just, like, helping pay my way through college. I was working at a baseball stadium in San Diego called Petco Park, but I just kinda wanted something that pay a little bit better, and Vector offered that a job that was gonna pay better and be flexible around my school. And I'm also part of the men's soccer team here, so I was flexible around being a student athlete. I guess, you guys reached out to me. I found the letter in the mail, and from there is where I applied. Yeah. In regards to the mailer itself, I was, I wasn't like too sure what it was at first, but I was like, ah, whatever. Like, so long they're not like asking anything crazy at the beginning, like, it's fine. And it was very simple. It was just like email, set up a time for an interview. So I was like, all right, fine. Sounds good to me. And then definitely got some negative feedback still do, to be honest from friends and family occasionally. Yeah, it's very much changed once the paycheck started rolling in and they saw my skills and just me, like, personally develop and grow. Okay. No names. My favorite customer story would be a customer in my second summer where we were in like our big sales competition. And then it was a customer that I didn't really think was going to get anything. I kind of like prejudged them in a sense, but I still did the like presentation the way I was taught and exactly how I did it. And not only did they buy, but they bought a lot more than what I thought they were going to buy. And ever since then, like we've just had a good relationship where we probably talk once every couple months, just checking on each other, seeing how life is doing. Since I go to school in Hawaii, but I'm from San Diego, every time I'm back in town, they're always like, Oh, come over. I just made this meal or I just made this meal. And then they'll always have to go boxes for me, which is basically their way of forcing me to come back for another meal because I have to return the to go box. Yeah, definitely. I guess the, like the development, like my own personal development, I was definitely like an introverted person. Didn't really like talking to people unless like I was spoken to, definitely one of those people. But now it's like, like I enjoy meeting people and like just kind of, I guess, making uncomfortable situations comfortable. Like now that I guess I have that ability from vector on top of that, I guess another thing that really surprised me was the positivity where like your manager and those around you really want to help you hit your goals. And it's weird because I guess in life, oftentimes we don't have too many people like that. And the people that we do have like that might be maybe like our parents in a sense where it's like, of course you want me to hit my goals. Like, you're my mom, you're my dad. But it was nice to have these like random strangers at one time just be like, yeah, like we want you to hit your goals just as much as you do. And they genuinely did, which was very surprising. You don't find that very often. Yeah. I guess the main reason I'd recommend it to anybody, main reason is difficult. There's so many, but I would say just like your personal development where it doesn't matter how long you do it for, like whether it's two weeks, two months or two years or anywhere in between or longer, like you're going to feel a change. You're just going to become more comfortable talking to strangers. You're going to see like your communication skills grow, your time management, so many other things are going to grow and just develop yourself as a person. You just feel that, like I said, whether it's after two weeks, two months, two years, or even more than that. So I definitely recommend giving the opportunity a chance because you will change for the better. Yes. We do. Alright.
