Dr. Greg Mongeon of Vitae Functional Medicine reports that DesBio provides a 'sniper rifle approach' to clinical care. By using targeted therapies for specific pathogens like Strep A and addressing emotional components, his clinic achieves superior clinical outcomes and increased patient compliance in complex chronic cases, such as Lyme disease and toxicity.

The interview

What was your experience before working with DesBio?

Before working with DesBio I was trying to find a lot of products from lots of different companies and you hope that they worked and you hope that sensitive patients could handle them, especially capsules. It was a lot of confusion and trying to seek other companies' products that would work for my patients.

How were you introduced to DesBio?

My intro into DesBio is actually through the certified Lyme specialist course. It provided a roadmap of products that made sense, had a track record that we knew worked with other patients with chronic tough cases, and I spoke to other clinicians who highly recommended them.

How does DesBio's approach to health differ from other supplement companies?

Most supplement companies look at a nutritional deficiency or a symptom and try to find an herb or vitamin for a lab marker. DesBio acknowledges that every health condition has an emotional and energetic component. Approaching the disease through this three-pronged approach gives us much better clinical outcomes.

What makes DesBio's product line unique for chronic infections?

It is the specificity of their products. Instead of a general viral component, we can go after a very specific pathogen like Strep A. It allows us to use a 'sniper rifle approach' rather than a shotgun approach, which gives my clinicians more confidence because we are taking the right product based on labs.

What has surprised you most about working with the company?

The people behind the company. As a medical advisor, I've met the formulators, founders, and executive team. There is a consistent heart inside the company to get people well and empower clinicians with the right tools and spot-on customer service.

What changes do you see in patients when addressing the emotional and mental components?

Patients seem more relaxed, at ease, and more willing to fight for their health. When we address these energetic components, their perception of their journey changes; they move from feeling disgusted or helpless to being able to look at the situation less emotionally and stay coachable.

What is your favorite DesBio product and how do you use it?

My favorite product by a long shot is Smart Silver. One of the main drainage pathways is the respiratory system, and when you put Smart Silver into a nebulizer, we literally see magic happen in the respiratory system to upregulate that drainage pathway.

Frequently asked

How do I find supplements that work for sensitive patients?

Dr. Greg Mongeon previously struggled with the confusion of sourcing products from multiple companies that sensitive patients could handle. He found that DesBio’s specific, targeted therapies avoid overwhelming the body, providing a roadmap that is safe and effective for chronic, tough cases.

Before working with DesBio was trying to find a lot of products that were from lots of different companies and you hope that they worked and you hope that sensitive patients could handle them especially capsules. So it was a lot of confusion, it was a lot of trying to seek other companies products that would work and that would ultimately work for my patients. I am Dr. Greg Mongeon, functional medicine doctor at Vitae Functional Medicine in Burnsville, Minnesota. My intro into DesBio is actually through the certified Lyme specialist course and to have a roadmap of products that made sense that had a track record that we knew worked with other patients with chronic tough cases and then actually talking to other clinicians that use their products and highly recommended them. Most supplement companies out there are looking at a nutritional deficiency or a symptom and they're trying to find an herb or a vitamin that is designed to help with a lab marker or some type of a symptomatology. What we know in this day and age that we live in is that people there's more than just a vitamin B deficiency for example, every single health condition takes an emotional component with it. So for company to finally acknowledge that there is the opportunity to approach the emotional component along with an energetic component and the disease or the pathway by itself allows us and respectfully what it gives us is much better clinical outcomes, so when we're able to understand that we can come at this from a three pronged approach we just simply get better clinical outcomes. So DesBio is different from other companies that I've worked with in the past because of the specificity of their products, there might be a company per se that might have a viral component but in the world of chronic Lyme disease and chronic infections we're actually trying to go after a very specific pathogen like Strep A, for example so to have the ability to take a targeted therapy that makes sense to the patient and what it also does it do is, does it overwhelm the body? We get to go in, instead of using like a shotgun approach we actually get to use what I call a sniper rifle approach in our clinical abilities and for my clinicians it allows them just to have so much more confidence that we're taking the right product because we found things on labs or things have shown up so it's so nice to have specificity in the product line. What has surprised me the most about Des Bio is the people behind the company. I've had a chance as a medical advisor get to meet the inside workings from formulators to founders to executive team and there's a heart that's consistent inside of the company that has the heart is to get people well and to empower clinicians to have the right tools so that when these tough cases show in our clinics we have the ability and not only if we have questions we can also reach out and the customer service is spot on as well. What I noticed when we started addressing the emotional and mental component is people's perception of how they were doing. In our clinic, we asked people to essentially write in a journal kind of what I call the state of the union of their body. How's everything going? And it's not just I have indigestion or I have fatigue or my gut is off but so much of it is about mindset and a peace or a stillness inside of their body. When we started addressing these energetic components our patients also seemed not only do they seem to be like more relaxed and more at ease they also seem to be more willing to go after and fight for their health. So the question is, were there emotional symptoms of rage in treating people with Lyme? The simple answer is yes and rage in and of itself can present itself in many ways. Many people are disgusted with the journey, many people are downtrodden because of how many doctors they've had to seen, many people feel helpless because they're not able to be who they want to be inside of their homes or their work or their close relationships and rage is an interesting emotion. However, when you understand what it really is, is your body saying I don't like where I'm at. And when we are able to go in and tap into that emotion it actually allows a person to take three steps back from where they are and look at the situation maybe not so emotionally and they're able to really align and be coachable and take the steps that they're supposed to get well. If you're working or you are that person that is dealing with chronic infection or chronic toxicity DesBio has a full line of specific products and protocols to help you walk through the nuances of truly getting well. One of the main drainage pathways in your body is actually your respiratory system and the tool that we use the most in our practice is actually something called Smart Silver so when you put Smart Silver into a nebulizer we literally see magic happen in the respiratory system to upregulate that drainage pathway and that's my favorite product by a long shot. DesBio has given myself and my clinicians certainty to take tough cases and walk them to a new level of health.
