The interview
Can you introduce yourself and describe the issue you were facing?
My name's Mark Allen. I live in Weymouth, Dorset in the UK, and I am an admin manager for a private healthcare company. We noticed a subsidence a few months back. There was a big crack under the back wall of our house, under the kitchen. Seemed to be getting bigger. It was about half an inch.
Why did you feel the need to act quickly on the repair?
We kind of needed to get something done about it before the bad weather kicked in. The back corner of our house, there was a, probably a half-inch crack along the bottom of the wall. We knew there was an issue, which we needed to get sorted out.
What research did you do into foundation repair methods?
Subsidence is historically an expensive thing to cure. So I was looking around for ways of doing it quickly, or if there was any different methods now. Obviously, there's the traditional methods with digging it all up and underpinning the foundations, which is incredibly expensive and messy and time-consuming. So I looked for alternative methods.
How did you find Geobear and what was your first impression?
Went on the internet, found Geobear, did a bit of research. They came up on the Google search at top of the list. I read through their reviews online and everything looked good. I thought, 'Let's give them a call, see what they've got to say.'
What convinced you to hire Geobear over other options?
What convinced me to hire Geobear was the chap I spoke to was very, very knowledgeable, very, very helpful, and the price was less than I was expecting.
How long did the process take from booking to completion?
I think it was about three weeks from the initial phone call to them being booked in and arriving on the morning to do the work. The actual work itself took, I think it was about half a day. So very, very quick.
What was the experience like with the technicians on-site?
The two guys that came were absolutely fantastic. They talked me through everything they were gonna do before they started, explained everything to me, explained the whole process, and then cracked on. They cleaned up after themselves, not a problem at all.
How do you feel now that the work is finished?
To be honest, it was such a relief. Like I say, I wanted to get it done before the winter kicked in, but it was so much quicker than I was expecting to be. I was expecting two or three months, and we'd get something booked in, get the job done. But three weeks was amazing.
