The interview

What is the mission of your company, TickMyt?

TickMyt is a company on a mission to reduce cases of tick-borne disease, like Lyme disease, through chemical-free innovative products that are helping with prevention, removal, and diagnostics.

What was the specific event that triggered your need to scale production?

We had been on the market for maybe a year and a half. We had been on Good Morning America and had sold eight thousand units in six hours, which told us that we really needed to scale up production. We were starting to explore getting into retail stores when I met Eric at a trade show.

How did your previous manufacturing relationship compare to working with GO Get Made?

We had a relationship with our factory for many years, but they weren't a partner who was going to be able to help us innovate new products as much. It was more so we send them a purchase order with the requirements of the product, and they ship us what we asked for. Not someone that we can brainstorm with or get recommendations from.

What has been the result of shifting your production to GO Get Made?

We shifted a majority of our production of our first product over to one of their factories. We also started innovating on a new product that we worked with them for about a year, and we are about to have fifty thousand units of that new product landing, which is really a brainchild between us and GO Get Made.

How has GO Get Made assisted with technical hurdles and international regulations?

They are someone who can be more of a partner in our manufacturing and R&D. For example, figuring out what hurdles we may have to overcome if we want to get our new product into Europe, such as understanding battery regulations.

Can you describe their involvement in your product packaging and retail readiness?

They suggested, 'This writing doesn't work in this place on the packaging because in this particular store it's going to be blocked.' We are continuously learning from them and adjusting when things need to be fixed in order to make sure that we have the most successful products in store.

Frequently asked

Can GO Get Made help with product innovation if I already have a factory?

Yes. Olivia Abrams noted that while her previous factory only fulfilled purchase orders, GO Get Made acted as a brainstorming partner, sending unrequested samples within two weeks and helping navigate hurdles like European battery regulations.

Does GO Get Made provide feedback on retail packaging design?

Olivia Abrams shared that GO Get Made provided critical feedback on artwork placement, advising when text would be blocked on specific retail shelves, ensuring the product was successful in-store.

How does GO Get Made help with international expansion?

They provide expertise on regional requirements; for example, they helped TickMyt understand the specific battery regulations needed to launch their new product in the European market.

They want to work with people who enjoy what they do, who are fun and kind. And not only do you get to work with Go Get Made, but you also become friends with their other clients, and that will grow your entrepreneurial network as well as getting a great supply in R&D partner. Olivia Abrams, and my company is called TickMyt. TickMyt is a company on a mission to reduce cases of tick-borne disease, like Lyme disease, through chemical-free innovative products that are helping with prevention, removal, and diagnostics. We had been on the market for maybe a year and a half, but had been working on this company for many, many years prior and were just starting to get a lot of footing. We had been on Good Morning America and had sold eight thousand units in six hours, which told us that we really needed to scale up production. We were starting to explore getting into retail stores when I met Eric at a trade show. We had had a relationship with our factory for many years. We really enjoyed the current relationship that we had, but they weren't a partner who was going to be able to help us innovate new products as much. It was more so we send them a purchase order with the requirements of the product, and they ship us what we asked for. Not someone that we can brainstorm with, not someone who we can get a lot of different recommendations. We haven't seen this work before, or an understanding of minute things such as, like, if we're gonna be working with a certain retailer, this is what's expected. So to have someone who has experience with a lot of the retailers that we currently work with, who loves brainstorming, and I mention something one time and two weeks later I receive samples that I didn't even ask for. It was really nice. Since working with Go Get Made, we shifted a majority of our production of our first product that we came out with over to one of their factories. We also started innovating on a new product that we worked with them for about a year, and we are about to have fifty thousand units of that new product landing, which is really a brainchild between us and Go Get Made, and we are always innovating new ideas with them. So suggesting new things that we might wanna do, figuring out what hurdles we may have to overcome. If we want to get our new product into Europe, what does that look like? Because you have to have battery regulations. So just someone who can be more of a partner in our manufacturing and R&D. Definitely have not encountered any issues. I think that it has stretched us in new ways in that when we first started working with them, we had one product. All of the packaging was already designed. So working with Go Get Made, it's now not as much having to start from scratch, but given, like, a dieline of what we're assuming is going to work and then taking that back internally and figuring out, okay, what is this artwork going to look like? Taking it to a third party who may help us with that art, and then bringing it back to Go Get Made and them suggesting, "This writing doesn't work in this place on the packaging because in this particular store it's going to be blocked." So definitely no problems at all, but just continuously learning from them and adjusting when things need to be fixed in order to make sure that we have the most successful products in store. We're about to launch a new product with them in the next couple of weeks. We're just waiting for our shipment to come in. We've worked with them on exclusive colors on our current products for certain retailers and are continuing to try to figure out what our new products are going to be with them.
