The interview
How did you feel before working with the Weight Loss Academy?
I felt like I needed to lose 20 to 30 pounds. I kept trying different things, and I just wasn't able to stick with it. I wasn't seeing the success that I wanted to. I knew what I should be doing but, on some level, I just wasn't willing to do it or wasn't capable of following through.
What specific challenges were you facing in your daily life?
I work in the healthcare field. During the pandemic, I started wearing scrubs every day to work. I just found myself looking at my closet with all these nice clothes and just being so sad that I didn't fit into them anymore.
What other programs had you tried previously?
I had been on Weight Watchers, I had tried Noom, intermittent fasting. I kept looking for something that would click with me and be successful, and all of them were successful in the beginning, but I just slowly reverted back to my old unhealthy patterns of eating. I found myself kidding myself that I was doing the program, but I really wasn't.
How did you discover Jennifer Powter?
'Stop Sabotaging Your Weight Loss' popped up in my Audible feed, and that really resonated with me because I knew on some level, I was sabotaging myself. And then I Googled her to find more, and I listened to her 'Diet Disruption' book as well. And then I finally took the plunge and joined the Weight Loss Academy.
What makes Jennifer's approach different from other methods?
In her book, she was very clear: The only reason people weigh more than they want to is because they take in more calories than their body needs. In addition to that awesome, pragmatic, scientific knowledge, she does the deeper work about how we developed the poor habits that keep us stuck.
Did you have any hesitations about joining?
If anything would have made me hesitate to join the Weight Loss Academy it probably was the outlay of money, because it is significant. But in retrospect, I can tell you that it's one of the best investments I've ever made in my life.
What results have you achieved since joining nine months ago?
My goal was to lose between 25 and 30 pounds. So far, I've lost 22 pounds. So I'm really close to my goal. I feel much more grounded and confident. I feel like I have a roadmap to follow to get to the person I truly want to be.
Why would you recommend this program to others?
I would recommend the Powter Weight Loss Academy because it's not just addressing the foods that you have to put in your mouth to lose weight. It's really looking at you as a whole person and understanding motivation behind your behaviors.
