Rhonda Lee achieved a remarkable transformation at MyVisionFirst, improving her measured eyesight from 20/40 to 20/15 during a five-day intensive program. By focusing on the eye-brain connection rather than just clarity, she eliminated her need for reading glasses, resolved motion sickness, and avoided invasive refractive lens exchange surgery.

The interview

Can you describe your overall experience with MyVisionFirst?

My overall experience was phenomenal. The people were absolutely wonderful, accommodating, friendly, helpful, and made me feel special. There was constant interaction, asking how I'm doing and making sure the sessions and exercises were working for me. I had fun.

What vision challenges were you facing before starting the program?

I was needing reading glasses, which I don't like. I had trouble focusing close-up to far away, and sometimes it wasn't even clear because I have under-prescribed or weaker contact lens prescriptions. I was also getting motion sickness in the back seat of cars.

How did you discover Dr. Appelbaum and vision therapy?

Two days before I was scheduled to get refractive lens exchange surgery, my functional medicine doctor said I should consider something natural like vision therapy. She sent me a link to a YouTube video with Dr. Appelbaum. I was already mentally prepared for surgery, but I watched the video and was convinced to try this first.

What was the most surprising outcome of the five-day intensive?

What surprised me most was the outcome. At the beginning of the five-day intensive, they measured my eyesight to be 20/40. At the end of the five-day intensive, they did the same exact measurements and measured my eyesight at 20/15.

What did you learn about the difference between vision and eyesight?

Dr. Appelbaum taught me that vision is the way the brain processes information through the eyes. It's way more than just how clearly my eyes see; it's hand-eye coordination and eye tracking. It broadens the definition of what vision is versus just eyesight being the clarity of the eyes seeing.

How has your life changed since completing the program?

One of the most notable outcomes is my eyesight. It is absolutely clear. I can see clearly in the distance and up close, and I don't need reading glasses. That is huge.

Frequently asked

Can vision therapy replace refractive lens exchange surgery?

Rhonda Lee was scheduled for surgery two days before discovering MyVisionFirst. She chose vision therapy as a natural alternative to improve her vision holistically and successfully avoided the invasive procedure.

Does vision therapy help with motion sickness?

Yes, Rhonda Lee reported that she previously suffered from motion sickness in the back seat of cars. Through vision therapy, she learned this was a treatable issue related to how the brain processes visual information.

How fast can you see results with a vision intensive?

Rhonda Lee participated in a five-day intensive program. Her eyesight was measured at 20/40 at the start and reached 20/15 by the end of the five days.

My overall experience was phenomenal. The people were absolutely wonderful, accommodating, friendly, helpful, made me feel special. Attention to my needs, constant interaction, asking how I'm doing, making sure that the sessions and exercises are working for me. I had fun. My name is Rhonda Lee. I'm fifty-two years old. I live in Lake Forest, California. I'm a real estate investor focusing on vacation rentals and glamping. Before my vision first experience, I was needing reading glasses, which I don't like. I had trouble focusing close-up to far away. I had to take time to focus in the distance, and sometimes it wasn't even clear because I have under-prescribed or weaker contact lens prescription. I'm also getting motion sickness, which I didn't even realize that was a thing that could be helped with vision therapy. Well, I've always dreamed of having twenty/twenty eyesight, so having glasses makes it difficult to do a lot of outdoor activities. So I wear contacts, and I keep them under-prescribed or weaker so that my eyes don't become weaker because they're compensating for the stronger contact lenses. Getting motion sickness is not fun. I would get motion sickness in the car in the back seat, so I'd either have to drive or sit in the front seat. And so that was something else that has affected my daily life. I've always wanted perfect eyesight, and so that is something that I wanted to work toward holistically before I try any type of invasive surgery. Two days before I was scheduled to get refractive lens exchange surgery, which is basically cataract surgery without cataracts, my functional medicine doctor said that I should consider something natural, like vision therapy, which I had never heard about. So she sent me a link to a YouTube video with Dr. Applebaum. I already scheduled my surgery. I was mentally prepared for it, but I watched the video anyway, and I was convinced. I don't wanna do the surgery. I want to see what I can do to improve my vision and my eyesight naturally, and then I can consider surgery if that's still something I wanna do. I'm so glad that my functional medicine doctor referred me. What surprised me most about the experience was the outcome. 'Cause I expected that the people were going to be nice because Dr. Applebaum's nice, and I figured his whole team would be nice as well. So that wasn't a surprise 'cause they were all nice. So at the beginning of the five-day intensive, they measured my eyesight to be twenty/forty. At the end of the five-day intensive, they did the same exact measurements and all the tests and measured my eyesight at twenty/fifteen. So my eyesight improved. Because Dr. Applebaum does a great job of educating, even in my phone interview with him, he taught me that there's a difference between vision and eyesight. To now understand that vision is the way the brain processes information through the eyes, it broadens the definition of what vision is versus just eyesight being the clarity of the eyes seeing. Just check out a video first. The whole team does a great job of educating, which for me was most important for setting a foundation for me understanding what this program is really gonna be about. It's not just improving my eyesight, but it's hand-eye coordination, it's eye tracking, and it's way more than just how clearly my eyes see, and it's pretty cool. Since completing the program, one of the most notable outcomes is my eyesight. It is absolutely clear. I can see clearly in the distance and up close, and I don't need reading glasses. That is huge
