The interview

What surprises you most about Speakeasy Mastermind?

I think what surprises me most about SpeakEasy Mastermind is just how committed and connected everybody is in the group. I've been part of a lot of organizations before where people kind of dip their toe in and they show up at a light scale. But it seems like, especially within my Orange County chapter, everybody is completely committed, showing up every month fully.

What was missing in your business before joining?

I think before SpeakEasy, what was missing in my business was that deeper connection with people, specifically going through the things and the challenges that I was having. What Speak Easy brought to the table was that deeper connection with a smaller local group that we meet up with once a month in person. So I didn't feel like a little fish in a big pond.

Did you have any hesitations before joining the organization?

I think before joining SpeakEasy, I was a little nervous that I didn't live up to the same caliber as everybody else in the group. This organization has extremely powerful and talented entrepreneurs and business owners, both locally and globally. My worries were completely put at ease at the first meeting, realizing that everybody has a value to bring to the table.

What specific wins have you experienced in your business and personal life?

First of all, being a captain of a chapter just allows you to meet so many people both throughout the country and at the local level. I think also for everybody else in the group, just getting the tips and the wins and the shares each week that people bring to the meeting, it's that aha, you didn't know was missing. Somebody in the meeting shares a hack, an AI prompt, a new app that they just found that they're using in their business.

How does the mastermind impact your strategic thinking?

Even from the smallest tip to like the biggest change that it could make, it just shifts in how you think about your business or that project that you're working on. And it gives you that clarity you need to keep moving forward.

What would you say to a founder asking if Speakeasy is worth it?

I ask, what are you doing instead? Because if you're sitting back and thinking that you're going to find the answers through your own research or by sitting in a room with a lot of people, being a small fish in a big pond, then I highly encourage you to attend a chapter meeting. You'll quickly discover that there are all of these people who are going through the exact same things that you're going through in your local community, who want to help you succeed.
