The interview
What was your professional background before starting with Vector?
Before starting with Vector, I was a gym receptionist in high school and college. I was also a swim instructor. There were no financial issues at the time, but the salary was completely different and I was not rewarded for the work I was doing.
What made you say yes to the job opportunity?
What made me say yes was the build of the resume. I have had many jobs, and as I said, I was not rewarded for the job I was doing. This was an opportunity where if I work hard, I get the results and get rewarded. I also loved the opportunities for growing within the company.
Can you share a favorite story from your time doing demos?
I was with this couple late at night for an online demo during the SC2 push. They ended up buying the signature set and the flatware. They gave me 76 recommendations, and we talked for three or four hours. It was awesome.
What surprised you the most about working at Vector?
Firstly, the work environment; I've never been in a place where everyone is fired up. Second, the income, because I became financially independent and just bought my first car. Third, the opportunities to grow. I feel challenged every time I go to a demo or a conference because you go out of your comfort zone.
How is Vector different from other jobs you have had?
I have my own flexibility. I can work as much as I want. I went to France for a month for holidays and didn't work because I needed to recharge. Now I'm back working with soccer and school. You make the calls and demos whenever you want.
What skills have you improved since joining the company?
Vector has improved my communication skills, my sales skills, and the approach to get to know customers and what their needs, priorities, and wants are. It has made me grow so much.
What made you decide to turn this into a career?
The possibility of growth within the company. My major is management, and I will have an amazing opportunity to run my branch office in Greensboro, North Carolina. I want to lead people and impact their lives just like Larry Amir impacted mine.
