The interview

How did you first hear about Vector Marketing and when did you start?

I was just graduating from high school in Colorado Springs when they first approached me with letters in the mail in the summer of 2021. I didn't want to work yet because I wanted to enjoy my summer, so I officially applied in August 2021 through Handshake, an online job website used by students at Colorado Mesa University.

Did you experience any negativity or hesitation before joining?

I did experience some negativity from my parents. But despite that, they told me I was an adult and they trusted me to make my own decisions, and it paid off really well.

What made you decide to give the position a try?

I definitely connected really well with my district manager, Jesse Jorgensen, who interviewed me. He made it seem like he really connected with me. Also, the pay of $21 per appointment definitely stood out a lot to me.

Can you share a memorable customer success story?

I had a virtual appointment with a customer recommended by seven other people. We spent about two and a half hours talking and doing the presentation with her family. When I showed her the Homemaker set, she asked for something bigger. Even though I wasn't fully trained on it yet, I showed her the Signature set, and she bought it. It was the first Signature set of my career.

What has surprised you most about working with the company?

Just how easy it was for me to connect with people and the different networks I've been able to get into. It even allowed me to connect with previous family members that I never really had contact with.

What is the biggest skill you have developed during your time here?

Being able to present in groups of people. This really showed through during my senior capstone where I presented in front of 60 people and it felt very natural. I got compliments from all the professors afterwards that I sounded like I knew what I was talking about and had a lot of confidence.

What is the company culture like at Vector Marketing?

I didn't meet my team in person for six months until I traveled to Utah for a meeting. The culture was super supportive and everyone was really excited to see each other. Over the past three and a half years, that has never wavered, which is why I've wanted to stay and turn it into a career.

Why would you recommend Vector Marketing to others?

I recommend it for the skills you develop and the resume experience. You learn how to network yourself, understand people at a deeper level, and gain communication skills that tie really well into the position.

Speaker 0: Hello. My name is Kirsten Ardoff, and I am originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Okay. It's actually at your face. Cool. Oh, sounds good. Okay. So we started before I started with vector marketing, I was just graduating from high school down in Colorado Springs. And they first approached me with letters in the mail. I got three letters over the summer of twenty twenty one right after I graduated from high school. And then I didn't really wanna work quite yet because I kinda just wanted to enjoy my summer. And then I officially applied for the position in August 2021 on an online job website called Handshake that students at my university used in Grand Junction. I went to school at Colorado Mesa. Yeah. Yeah. I did experience some negativity. However, it's mainly from I'd experienced some negativity from my parents. But despite that, they're like, you're an adult now. I trust you. You can make your own decisions, and it paid off really well. So I think what made me say let's give it a try is I definitely connected really well with my district manager Jesse Jorgensen. He's the one that actually interviewed me and then just like making it seem like he really connected with me. And then also just the pay that it had of $21 per appointment definitely stood out a lot to me. I think one of my best customer stories was it was a virtual appointment. I've only done virtual presentations, and I did it with a customer that I got recommended to by, like, seven other people. And when I did it with her, we spent, I want to say like two and a half hours just talking and actually doing the presentation. And I was going throughout it. I was talking to all her family as well. And then we get to the end of it. And I show her the homemaker. And then she's like well don't you have bigger sets as well? And I was like oh yeah. I'm not really trained on this quite yet but I'd love to show you. And then she ended up getting the signature set and it was my first signature of my career. So that was really exciting. It's the one right below our biggest set. Yeah. I think what surprised me most about working for marketing is just how easy it was for me to connect with people and, like, just the different networks that I've been able to get into as well as it's allowed me to connect with previous family members that I never really had contact with. I think one of the biggest skills that I developed was being able to present in groups of people. I was kind of confident with it but I never really like went all into it. And this really showed through when I was doing my senior capstone. I presented in front of a group of 60 people and it felt very natural. I got compliments from all the professors afterwards that it seemed like I knew what I was talking about and that there was a lot of confidence behind it and it seems like I did all the time. So, I think that definitely stood out a lot to me of like being able to present in front of really big groups of people. Yeah. Yes. I think just being able to partner really closely with my manager. And then also I didn't actually get to meet any of like the people on my team in person until six months in. And I traveled to Utah. We had like a group meeting altogether. And then just being able to see the culture that we all had of everyone was like super supportive. We were all really excited to see each other. And over the past three and a half years that never really wavered. And just continuing to build what we've already built upon. And, yeah, that's why I've wanted to stay with vector marketing and turn it into a career. The major thing I would recommend working with Vector Marketing is the skills that you can develop and then also the resume experience. I feel like being able to learn how to network yourself and being able to learn about other people's experiences ties really well into working with this position. Because you can learn like different communication skills and also how to understand people at a deeper level as well. Yes. I do give verbal consent.
