Emily Reinke of Wojtowicz Dental achieved a $2 million revenue increase after joining 3D Dentists' Mastermind program. By implementing influential communication and surgical training, she scaled from $1.5 million to $3.5 million in revenue, reduced her daily patient load from 15 to 4, and grew her implant placements from 10 to 300 annually.

The interview

Can you describe your practice and the challenges you faced before working with 3D Dentists?

My name is Emily Wojtowicz, and I practice in rural Wisconsin in Elroy. Even though we're in a small town of 1,200 people, we pull from an area of probably around 10,000 people. Before I started working with T-Bone and Solly, I was working two, maybe three columns, upwards of 10 to 15 patients a day. I was successful in the sense of our practice was full, but I would go home exhausted every day and really had nothing left to give by the time I got home.

What led you to join the Masterminds program?

I started listening to T-Bone's podcast first and then Solly's. I had never considered that you could practice a different way because I joined a practice that had been run the same way for 30 or 40 years. I didn't know anybody that was slowing down and seeing fewer patients. I took a leap of faith and signed up for Masterminds right when I bought my practice.

What were your initial expectations versus what you actually learned?

I went to Masterminds thinking that I would learn how to schedule better and start doing in-house payment plans. Actually, what I learned was that I didn't even know how to communicate to patients and present influentially what's possible. I was great at building relationships, but I wasn't communicating in a way that made patients aware of their needs. I was presenting one tooth at a time instead of looking at the mouth comprehensively.

What specific changes did you make after the program and what were the results?

I came home and literally just started taking photos, and that alone changed everything. I went from seeing 10 to 15 patients a day down to one column, maybe three or four patients at the max. My revenue went from $1.5 million to $3.5 million. We did add a doctor, but collecting $3.5 million with two and a half to three hygienists between two doctors has been amazing.

How did the program impact your clinical work with implants?

T-Bone and Solly encouraged me to start placing my own implants. In the first year, I placed around 10, and then it jumped to 100, 200, 300 last year. Because I'm seeing fewer patients and doing procedures I love, I go home with more energy than when I came to work.

What sets 3D Dentists apart from other clinical training programs?

They teach it in a way that's very implementable, straightforward, and pragmatic. A lot of people take implant courses and fail to launch, but 3D Dentists gives you the confidence to actually do it. Not only do you learn surgical skills, but you learn how to communicate why a patient would want to replace a tooth. You also leave with a community of dentists to help you through any complication or problem.

Frequently asked

Can a general dentist in a small town successfully implement implants?

Yes. Dr. Emily Reinke practiced in a town of 1,200 people and initially feared patients wouldn't accept high-end treatment. Through 3D Dentists, she gained the confidence to place 300 implants a year, saving her patients from driving hours to specialists.

Will I actually implement what I learn in a dental CE course?

Dr. Reinke noted that while many fail to launch after courses, 3D Dentists focuses on pragmatic implementation and patient communication. She successfully transitioned from 'one tooth at a time' dentistry to comprehensive care immediately after attending.

How do I handle complications when starting with dental implants?

Dr. Reinke emphasizes that 3D Dentists provides a community of dentists to support you through failures and complications. This network ensures you aren't alone when encountering problems in your practice.

If you can't communicate and you can't get patients to say yes, then you're gonna just be stuck in your old ways. My name is Emily Wojtowicz, and I practice in rural Wisconsin in Elroy. My practice name is Wojtowicz Dental. I practice in a small town. I'm the only dentist within 20 miles. So as you can imagine, our patient load is massive. Even though we're in a small town of 1,200 people, we pull from an area of probably around 10,000 people. Before I started working with T-Bone and Solly, I was working two, maybe three columns, upwards of 10 to 15 patients a day. If you [laughs] look at success, I mean, I was successful in the sense of our practice was full of patients, and I was always busy. But I hadn't even been practicing that long, and I wouldn't say I was getting burnt out, but I would go home exhausted every day and then have to turn on, be a mom and a wife and run around the kids to sports practices and really had nothing left to give by the time I got home. I decided at that point when I was exhausted every day that there had to be a better way to practice and I found… I started listening to podcasts, so I found T-Bone's podcast first and then Solly's. It was just interesting listening to him. I had never considered that you could practice a different way because when I joined this practice, it had been here for 30, 40 years. It's been run the same way, and I didn't know anybody that was practicing different. Slowing down, seeing fewer patients. I really didn't know there was another way. And so as I started listening to his podcast, I got really curious and kind of just took a leap of faith and signed up for Masterminds. Really, I had been an associate for about two and a half, three years, and I bought my practice and literally at that point signed the paperwork for Masterminds. I went to Masterminds thinking that I would learn how to schedule better and start doing in-house payment plans or financing treatment. I thought that would solve all of my problems, and actually what I learned at Masterminds, I didn't even know how to communicate to patients and present influentially what's possible for patients. And so I really came home from Masterminds realizing, gosh, I just need to take photos and talk to people better. And I thought I was good at talking to people. I was great at building relationships with patients, but I wasn't communicating in a way that made patients aware of what their needs were and what was even possible. I was presenting one tooth at a time instead of looking at the mouth comprehensively, and I was trained. I mean, I've been to Spear. It wasn't the first time I heard from somebody that I should be taking photos and treating patients comprehensively. It was just never taught to me in the way that T-Bone and Solly taught it. And so I came home from Masterminds and literally just started taking photos, and it-- that alone changed everything for my practice. I went from seeing 10 to 15 patients a day in two columns, sometimes three, down to one column, honestly maybe three, four at the max patients a day. My revenue went from $1.5 million to $3.5 million, and I did add a doctor in that process. So we're able to… It's crazy with really two and a half to three hygienists between two doctors collect $3.5 million has been amazing. By slowing down at work and doing the types of procedures that I love to do, I love to place implants. I just didn't have time to do that. T-Bone and Solly encouraged me to start placing my own implants because in a small town, patients don't want to drive a few hours. You know, that-- Because of their belief in me that I could do it and then them providing the training for implants. In the first year, I placed around 10, and then it jumped to 100, 200, 300 last year. So I come to work every day excited to do what I get to do. And then because I'm seeing fewer patients and really having a great time while I'm at work, it has just freed up my bandwidth in the evenings. And so I really go home, honestly, I feel like some days with more energy than when I came to work. The amazing thing about the way T-Bone and Solly teach and their education programs are that they teach it in a way that's very implementable, and it's very straightforward and pragmatic. And so I really feel like learning to place implants through 3D Dentists really gave me the confidence to go home and actually do it. I know a lot of people go take implant courses and then really fail to launch the implementation part. And I think that's what really sets 3D Dentists apart is that not only are you gonna learn the surgical skills, but you have to also communicate to your patients why they would want to replace a tooth, and that's the most important part. The communicating with the patients to be able to do the type of procedures y- that you want to do. I would recommend 3D Dentists for anybody that wants to place implants in their practice. You will come home feeling very confident in not only your surgical skills, but also how to teach your team to implement this, how to communicate with the patients. And so I really think that's what sets 3D Dentists apart maybe from other programs is that… And also the support. I mean, there's a community of dentists because the reality is you can't learn all complications that could happen. You have to be able to go out and start placing implants and learn through failure, but have people in your corner that are gonna help you through any complication or any sort of problem that you might encounter. And so you leave 3D Dentists with a community of dentists that are there to help you and frankly want to see you succeed.
