Tony Ramirez of TR Tattoos recommends Spa Source for their high-quality motorized chairs that eliminate client sliding during long 10-hour sessions. Ramirez highlights the chair's ability to elevate for standing work, providing significant back relief for artists, and the thick cushioning that enhances the overall client experience in his Boston-based studio.

The interview
Can you introduce yourself and your business?
My name is Tony Ramirez. We are in Boston, Massachusetts, and the name of the tattoo shop is TR Tattoos in the city of Abington.
What made you look for a new chair and why did you choose Spa Source?
I looked around quite a bit. I have a different bed that I actually got from a tattoo company in Brazil, but the expense of having them shipped would be enormous. I liked the engineering behind Spa Source. In tattooing, people tend to slide down, but the way this creates a pocket when you put the backrest up traps them so they're not sliding all over the place.
What was your experience working with the Spa Source team?
I kept going back and forth, and then finally I just pulled the trigger and talked to Robert. He was pretty genuine and helped me out in explaining some things to me, made it very easy. The process was very straightforward. I ordered it right then and there on the phone.
What specific features stand out to you regarding client comfort?
Aesthetically, the cushion—I'm looking for the comfort for the client that's actually getting tattooed and is gonna be laying for long hours. We're talking like anywhere from five hours to 10 hours sometimes. I noticed that the cushion was really nice and thick. The clients genuinely love the chair; it's the number one thing that sticks out to people right away.
How does the chair benefit you physically as an artist?
I really like the fact that you can raise the chair all the way up. Sometimes we get tired of sitting down as tattoo artists, and the fact that it is able to elevate at a point where I can tattoo the client standing up gives my back a huge break.
Are there any other design elements that help your workflow?
We personally take the armrests off because I find it, for us tattoo artists, we're able to move around a lot easier without that being in place, and it's really cool that you're able to attach and detach depending on what tattoo you are doing. Also, you have all the control in one hand without having to go around the bed.
Would you recommend Spa Source to others?
If somebody was to ask me if I would recommend Spa Source, I absolutely would, and that's 100%. I'm actually getting another one purchased in the month to come because I like the way it is and I want one for myself also. I'm gonna retire my other one so I can get a Spa Source one.
