The interview
What surprised you the most about your experience?
What surprised me the most was my capacity for forgiveness.
How are you committed to showing up for yourself moving forward?
I'm committed to showing up for myself by learning how to not let fear in the driver's seat. I am going to push to not let immediate responses that I have had because of fear and because of lack of trust overcome myself and what I know to be good and true. I am going to show my ego or my fear that trusting and loving is okay and being hurt is okay.
How do you plan to show up for others after this experience?
I'm committed to showing up for others through truly allowing myself to feel connection with them and to giving them my all, to giving them my truth. To really tell them how I feel instead of being dishonest and to truly do what I can to help them in times of need.
How has your perspective on interacting with people changed?
I'm excited to interact with people now that I've learned my capacity to trust them. By seeing people as people instead of things that are coming out to get me or things that are trying to hurt me, I'm going to truly allow myself to connect with people—random strangers on the street. I want to just talk with everyone and hear life stories and see how different people think about the world.
What is the core shift in your motivation or mindset?
For so long I was acting out of fear instead of out of love and I'm going to start acting out of love and that's very exciting for me. I'm going to be someone that is more grateful for everything that surrounds me and appreciative even in little things—looking at a flower and listening to music. Just little things that are beautiful.
How will this impact your closest relationships?
I'm going to truly be connected with friends and family and be myself. Because loving people means that I need to be honest with them and in being honest I need to be myself and so I'm going to be true to my word and to myself in that love and that's going to be very beautiful.
