The interview

What were your initial goals when joining Alloy Personal Training?

I've only been at Alloy six weeks, and my goal was I needed to replace fat with muscle. Already, I can tell by my InBody scan that I've already gained three pounds of muscle, and my body fat has gone down. It's been a nice tradeoff to actually see the metrics in action.

What was your fitness background before starting this program?

I've always been a very active person. My husband and I are known around the neighborhood as the couple that walks every day. I've always kept my cardio up really well, and I'm a yogi—I'm actually a certified yoga instructor. But what I was neglecting was weights.

Were you hesitant about joining a personal training gym?

I have to admit, I was a little nervous to join Alloy because I never like to be coached. I've always just kind of been very self-paced. But then again, my own self-pace, I just don't hit all of the exercises, right? So, I knew I needed some help.

What is the group environment like at the Georgetown facility?

You're in a group of like six people at the most. Everybody just kind of checks in on each other, and you watch everybody like, 'man, this is a tough one.' You're not alone in feeling like you're trying to push through these exercises. The vibe is fun and inclusive.

How do the trainers handle individual physical limitations or injuries?

They work at your own pace. If you have any issues like lower back, or like maybe you have a pulled hamstring or something, they're going to adjust for your needs in the moment. There's just enough people in the space where the trainer can really give you individualized help.

How has Alloy helped you stay consistent with your workouts?

The best thing about working with Alloy is that I stick to my commitments. They're really good at making sure that your appointments are on the calendar, and if you have to move anything around, they're right there to shuffle your times around. I love how they really hold me personally accountable.

What should someone expect during their first visit to Alloy?

They had a free assessment. They'll do all your body scans and then they give you a free workout, and everybody is so friendly. You're going to get a taste of what those group workouts are like. Once you're in, you're hooked.
