The interview

Can you introduce yourself and your role?

My name is Angelaleah Mwangi. I am based in Nairobi, Kenya. I support an executive who is a real estate managing owner and broker for her own real estate brokerage in Indiana.

What was your professional background before joining Atlas?

Before I joined Atlas, I was working freelance as a virtual assistant, but before that I had spent about 10 plus years working as an executive admin, personal assistant, and office administrator in physical companies in Nairobi, Kenya.

Why did you choose to move to Atlas Assistants?

I specifically chose to move to Atlas because I wanted a bit more flexibility in my time and then I also wanted a better paying role as well as an opportunity to just expand my knowledge base and my skill set.

How has the AI training impacted your work?

The AI training has been one of the better opportunities in the sense that it has allowed me to not only better support my executive, but to also be a lot more aware of what's out there that can make systems work easier. A lot of the mundane tasks I used to have to do, I can now automate and spend more time supporting and being there for my executive.

How did you transition into a 'strategic partner' role?

It started with training about drafting emails in advance. I look at the inbox, read them, and respond in advance so the executive just cleans them up or sends them. It's gotten to the point where my executive will literally not write her own emails; she prefers that I write in her tone rather than she writes it herself.

What specific systems or methodologies have you learned?

Atlas provided training about AI, Inbox Zero, and Second Brain. These have opened me up to a whole new world and a whole new set of opportunities. The VA world is a lot bigger and deeper than I initially thought.

How has your life changed since joining the company?

So many wonderful things. The training and compensation have given me a lot of financial stability and security. If I had to go back to working for a physical company without these systems in place, I would feel like a fish out of water.

What would you say to an executive considering Atlas?

I recommend you onboard yourself with Atlas as soon as you can because in terms of cost it will be cheaper for you than hiring a physical assistant. You'll get someone who understands you and the business you run, and they offer training for both the executive and the assistant to ensure the relationship is seamless.

Frequently asked

Is Atlas Assistants better than working as a freelance virtual assistant?

Yes, Angelaleah Mwangi noted that moving from freelance work to Atlas provided better compensation, financial stability, and significantly more advanced training opportunities in AI and systems management.

How does Atlas Assistants help with executive email management?

Atlas trains assistants to draft emails in advance by learning the executive's specific tone and voice. Angelaleah reports her executive now prefers her to write the initial drafts rather than writing them herself.

Can an offshore assistant handle high-level strategic tasks?

According to Angelaleah, Atlas training allows assistants to move beyond mundane tasks to become strategic partners who handle content creation and complex systems, making them feel like a 'fish out of water' without these advanced tools.

Angelaleah Mwangi (00:00) if you're an executive assistant, you need to get on board with Atlas. If you're an executive looking for support. trust you, Atlas is the best choice you could potentially make. My name is Angela Leandre Mwangi. I am based in Nairobi, Kenya. I support an executive who is a real estate managing owner and broker for her own real estate brokerage in Indiana. So before I joined Atlas, I was working freelance as a virtual assistant, but before that I had spent some time, I think about 10 plus years, working as an executive admin, ⁓ personal assistant, office administrator in actual physical companies here in Nairobi, Kenya. And then I transitioned to Atlas. ⁓ I specifically chose to move to Atlas because I wanted a bit more flexibility in my time and then I also wanted a better paying role as well as an opportunity to just expand my knowledge base, my skill set and Atlas has been that for me with all the training and the opportunities they've accorded. The one I would really like to talk about would be the AI training in terms of the kind of training and support I've gotten from Atlas. The AI training has been one of the better opportunities in the sense that it has allowed me to not only better support my client, my executive, but to also be a lot more aware of what's out there in terms of that can make systems and everything work a lot easier. Like a lot of the mundane tasks I used to have to do. with the AI training from Atlas, it has allowed me to kind of automate those and spend more time supporting and being there for my executive. I would say it's been ⁓ one of the ways or one of the experiences I've had that have made me see myself as more than just an assistant and rather as a strategic partner. ⁓ It all started out with one of the trainings we did in Atlas, which was about drafting emails in advance. Like when you go through your executive inbox, you look at their emails, read them and respond to those in advance so that when they're reading that email, they pretty much just clean up whatever if they need to or just send it out as it is. So it's gotten to the point where my executive will literally not write her own emails, will prefer that I write them and then she edits them and sends them out. I have gotten to the point where like I can say that now I'm a strategic partner in the sense that I have understood the way she writes, the way she speaks that and it's going to the point where she prefers that I write in her tone rather than she writes it herself. So that is one of those. as well as when it comes to content creation, a lot of times the content I help her create is what she'll go with rather than what she was already working on because I've gotten her tone and her voice really down pat. Yeah. My, wow, that is a great question. So with Atlas and how have things changed, so many wonderful things I would say. The opportunities, the training, the compensation that has given me a lot of financial stability and security, the opportunities in terms of training about AI, about Inbox Zero, Second Brain. In terms of like ⁓ the opening me up to a whole new world and a whole new set of opportunities, the VA world is a lot bigger and deeper than I initially thought. I honestly thought it was just being an assistant, but I've come to learn that even with Atlas, there's so many different levels to an assistant. There's an assistant in real estate, there's an assistant who's good at commerce, there's an assistant who's good at social media. So there's like so many. different levels and Atlas has really opened up my world. Without Atlas, I don't think I would know a lot of the things I know right now, especially with AI. I feel like if I had to now go back to working to an actual company, physical company, if they did not have the systems in place, I would feel like a fish out of water. And that's all thanks to Atlas. The possibilities have been endless. They support your assistant, your executive assistant. They will support you. They offer trainings for both you, the executive, and for your assistant to ensure that your relationship is as seamless as possible, that your opportunities are understood, that your needs are understood and met, and they support you throughout the entirety of your time with them. I have seen a lot of executive assistants bought out from Atlas because they were that good and that was all because of Atlas. So if you're an executive out there and you're wondering why should I recommend you get Atlas and you onboard yourself with Atlas as soon as you can because in terms of cost it will be cheaper for you than hiring a physical assistant and an executive assistant you'll get someone who will understand you who can speak to you because communication is a very key thing about Atlas as well and you'll find someone who understands everything there is to know about you and the business you run.
