Josh Bergeron of Tikun Collective Design found that Atlas Assistants enabled him to rise to new challenges by offloading tasks outside his strengths. By delegating marketing efforts like newsletters and daily administrative duties to a culturally diverse executive assistant, Bergeron successfully transitioned from wearing every hat to focusing on high-level firm growth.

The interview
Can you introduce yourself and your company?
My name is Josh Bergeron. My company is Tikun Collective Design. We are a design and architecture firm that focuses on regenerative design.
What was your situation before working with Atlas Assistants?
Before I hooked up with Atlas and got an executive assistant, I was wearing every single hat. I'm a solopreneur. I didn't have a lot of staff. I still don't. And so I was really just inundated with all of the tasks that are required to run a business and do all the design work.
How has Atlas helped you overcome these challenges?
Atlas has helped me overcome this challenge by providing someone who is willing to take on some of the things that I find less interesting or that are not playing into my strengths, playing into my superpower. They also provided someone willing to stretch herself by taking on things I might enjoy but don't have time for, like marketing efforts and newsletters.
What inspired you to choose Atlas over other options?
I really liked the idea of working with someone outside of America; diversity is a huge value within our company. Another key piece was the price point—it was very good. I wanted to make sure that meant a living wage in that country, and it does. Finally, there wasn't a huge commitment, so it was very low risk for me.
What results have you seen from having an EA?
I've been able to move on to doing other things. I might not be the traditional version of the story here because I've just ratcheted some of the new things up that I didn't have a chance to get into. It's given me the ability to rise to being able to do new things.
What stands out about Atlas's approach?
Their ability to be thorough in the beginning. I ended up having one or two sales calls, which for a solopreneur is extremely important because I'm all over the place. Learning from Atlas has been great about how to structure my daily tasks and needs around what really excites me.
What would you tell someone on the fence about working with Atlas?
Just try it. It's fun. It's a great group of people. There's virtually no risk. It's a little bit of your time and you're learning something about your company while spending the time onboarding. You get to meet great people, interview them, and see how they work out.
Frequently asked

What is the risk of trying Atlas Assistants?
Bergeron described the service as very low risk because there was no huge long-term commitment. He felt free to try the service to see if it worked, with the flexibility to move on if it didn't meet his needs.
Can an executive assistant handle creative tasks like marketing?
Yes, Josh Bergeron specifically delegated marketing efforts, such as newsletters, to his assistant. He found that his assistant was willing to stretch herself by taking on tasks he enjoyed but lacked the time to execute.
