The interview

Who are you and what is the title of your book?

My name is Amani Roberts and the name of my book is The Quiet Storm, A Historical and Cultural Analysis of the Power, Passion, and Pain of R&B Groups.

What inspired you to write this book and how long did it take?

What inspired me to write it is that it was my thesis in grad school, so I looked at the thesis and said, 'This could be a really good book.' It was my second... and a half years later, here we are.

How did Book Launchers support you throughout the writing and editing process?

Book Launchers helped me from beginning to end, just with, like, the writing coach, getting the book idea down as an outline. Then when I wrote the book, helped me with the edits, both before the manuscript was done and then after. They really helped me go through that process and just explain how I needed to be more consistent through each of the chapters.

What was your experience with the design team?

When people see the book, like, 'Ooh, that's a really good cover!' And I really have Book Launchers to thank because their design team helped me with planning the different drafts. It really came out a great, great cover on the outside and a great book on the inside.

When did you realize Book Launchers was the right partner for your project?

I knew Book Launchers was right for me when I understood the entire process to writing a book, and how you can't take any shortcuts and they wouldn't allow me to take any shortcuts.

What specific results have you seen since launching your book?

Speaking on more stages, more podcasts, I'm starting to get more customers. It's really given me just a really increased amount of credibility in the music industry space because I wrote a book about the music industry, about a topic that wasn't really covered. I'm about three or four months past launch date now, and so it's continuing to pick up momentum.

Why would you recommend Book Launchers to other authors?

I recommend Book Launchers because from A to Z, they will get your book released, they'll have you write a good book, and they'll do it the right way, give you plenty of resources, give you a great editing team, design team. They'll help you get your book up on the backend, which is incredibly complex, and make sure it's launched in the right time.
