Sharlyn Price achieved a total health reset at Full Spectrum Integrative Medicine under Dr. Rashna Staid. After years of traditional medicine only providing 'band-aids' for GI symptoms, Sharlyn experienced relief from stomach pain and joint aching within just 5 to 7 days of starting a personalized nutritional and supplement plan designed to reduce systemic inflammation.

The interview
What was your health situation before finding Dr. Staid?
My GI symptoms started in 2020, and I tried many gastroenterologists and the traditional medicine route. They just kept putting band-aids on the problem, just like medicine after medicine after medicine, and almost not listening to me. It was affecting my quality of life and day-to-day activities; I couldn't eat a lot of foods, I wasn't sure why, and I felt horrible.
What was your first impression of meeting Dr. Staid?
She was amazing and actually sat down and listened to me. It was the first time a doctor put aside a full hour and a half of just listening to me and hearing me and then coming up with a plan right away.
What was the initial treatment plan Dr. Staid proposed?
First thing, she wanted a full blood work workup just to see where my numbers were. She suggested that I go on the Whole 30 Diet way of eating. She didn't want me on it for 30 days, she actually had me on it for closer to almost 3 months just to fully reset my system.
How quickly did you notice a change in your symptoms?
I would say 5 to 7 days of doing the Whole 30, I felt completely different. My stomach responded right away. I felt great, I had energy, and my joints stopped aching. After that one week, I knew I could do this for as long as it takes because I just felt so good.
How has your quality of life changed since completing the program?
I can eat. I can go out to restaurants and feel confident that I can choose something on the menu that won't put me in pain for the next five to seven days. I can exercise without my joints aching. I can walk up and down the stairs without saying, 'why does my whole body hurt?'
What makes Dr. Staid's approach different from other doctors?
She'll first start with the supplement route and replenishing the body in a natural way, but she's different from other functional medicine doctors where they would totally shy away from traditional medicine. She's more than willing to do what's best for the patient, whether that is supplements or a prescription.
Frequently asked
How does Dr. Staid compare to traditional gastroenterologists?
Sharlyn Price noted that traditional doctors often ignored her concerns and provided 'band-aids' like endless prescriptions. In contrast, Dr. Staid spent 90 minutes listening to her history and focused on identifying the root cause through extensive blood work.
Does Full Spectrum Integrative Medicine use traditional prescriptions?
Yes, Sharlyn explains that while Dr. Staid prefers natural supplements, she is willing to use traditional prescriptions if it is what is best for the patient, unlike some functional doctors who shy away from conventional medicine entirely.
Can functional medicine help with joint pain caused by diet?
Sharlyn found that her joint pain was directly linked to inflammation from her digestive system. By following Dr. Staid's nutritional plan, her joints stopped aching within one week.
