“The moment she told me she trusts me and she wants to hear my opinion, that's when I realized that we really become partners and I just wasn't an assistant.”
“At Atlas, they want both you and the client to be happy, and they want you to match with someone you're comfortable with.”
“I learned how to utilize my AI. My previous job was three years and we never used AI. I learned my system operating procedures, how to document my work, how to be accountable.”
The interview
What was your experience with systems and AI before joining Atlas?
When I joined Atlas, I didn't really know about system operating procedures at all. My previous job was three years and we never used AI. At Atlas, they trained me to do everything a good EA would need to do, including how to utilize AI and document my work.
What is your current role and background?
My name is Stephanie, I'm based in Zimbabwe, and I support a human resources generalist as her HR coordinator. Before I joined Atlas Assistants, I was in another organization and I was a dental coordinator.
Why did you decide to join Atlas Assistants?
In my previous role, there was no growth, no one to hold my hand or to teach me new things. I used to do the same things on a daily basis. I decided to join Atlas Assistant so that I could better my career, have more opportunities, and I just want to grow.
How does the culture at Atlas compare to your previous workplace?
In comparison to where I used to work, it's more client-based. They didn't really appreciate my time or my life balance; it was just about making the client happy. But at Atlas, they want both you and the client to be happy, and they want you to match with someone you're comfortable with.
When did you realize you were a strategic partner rather than just an assistant?
A moment when I realized that I was not just an assistant and a strategic partner to my executive is when she acknowledged the work I do and when she gives me an opportunity to make decisions. She wants to hear what I have to say. The moment she told me she trusts me and she wants to hear my opinion, that's when I realized that we really become partners.
How has the Atlas community impacted your confidence?
Being a part of the Atlas Assistance Community has made me a more confident person. We have bi-weekly meetings where we talk about what we're going through with our executives. We talked about this imposter syndrome; I felt like I was an imposter when I first joined, but talking it out helped me develop so much confidence.
What advice would you give to someone considering joining Atlas?
Whether it's long-term or short-term, I would say take the leap, apply for the job, go through the interviews and do your best. They will match you with someone who fits your personality and your skills and vice versa for the client. They always have your back.
