Jacquelyn Gernaey of Seven Star HR reports that H7 Network helped her scale from 54 to 270 affiliate partnerships over two years. By moving away from high-cost, low-result networking, she utilized H7’s 'selling through the room' methodology to build high-level B2B relationships that now consistently drive revenue through partner-led client referrals.

The interview

What brought you to H7 Network and what was your previous experience?

I was doing networking that cost me $390 a month and I was getting no results. My first impression was that the people who are in H7 are business-to-business people and that they are higher-level people, so you're not dealing with sales reps and those who don't have a database that really could help me.

How has your business model evolved since joining H7 Network?

I've been in H7 for over two years. We only sell through affiliate partnerships, not direct. When I came to H7, I had 54 affiliate partnerships. Now, two plus years later, I have 270 affiliate partnerships.

How does the H7 methodology impact your revenue?

Understanding in H7, we don't sell to the room, we sell through the room—the people in the room know. And so that has really increased my revenue because I have these partners that now bring me clients.

Who has had the biggest impact on your experience at H7?

I think that there is no one person who has had a bigger impact on me than Clay Hicks, really. He really communicated what H7 was. I found him through a LinkedIn connection, and in the first connection that I received, I actually got a referral to somebody who became an affiliate partner.

What is the core philosophy of networking within the H7 community?

These people are my people, because they know what networking is about. It's not to make friends. It is to really help each other. In H7, we do not look at how much money we received. We look at the connections we received and the relationships we built.

How does H7 Network differ from other networking organizations regarding rules and attendance?

One of the beauties of H7 is that they have multiple types of meetings. You can attend as many meetings as you want a month. Everything is included and you don't have a particular home that you... like some of the others that you're going, well, I'm supposed to be attending this and they're going to take attendance if I don't and I'm going to get dinged. This is networking for adults.

Frequently asked

Is H7 Network worth the cost compared to other networking groups?

Jacquelyn Gernaey noted she was previously spending $390 a month on networking with no results. She found H7 Network more effective because it focuses on high-level B2B decision-makers rather than sales reps, providing better value for the investment.

How does H7 Network handle aggressive sales tactics or 'pitch slapping'?

According to Jacquelyn, H7 Network emphasizes relationship building over direct selling. Members are trained to avoid 'pitch slapping,' and the culture focuses on one-on-one connections rather than trying to sell to the people in the room.

Are there mandatory attendance requirements at H7 Network?

Jacquelyn describes H7 as 'networking for adults' because it lacks the rigid attendance tracking found in other groups. Members can attend as many meetings as they want without being 'dinged' for missing a specific 'home' meeting.
