The interview
Why did you decide to work with Hartford Property Management?
I decided to work with Hartford Property Management because after many years of being a do-it-yourself landlord, I ran into the Mack truck known as the squatter. I'm a busy person. I can't vet to the degree that's needed to vet out potential squatters.
What was your initial impression of the team?
That's when I met Arthur Vieira, who is the front man of Hartford Property Management. And what an excellent service personnel he is, and showed me what Hartford could do for me.
How do they handle maintenance issues for out-of-state owners?
Other issues confronting snowbirds like myself, that want to rent out their seasonal home, are repairs. When you're 1500 miles away in sunny Florida and your tenant calls saying the furnace has quit, that's a problem. Mitch in his own right is a contractor. He knows what needs to be done to a house. To have someone with that background get the furnace fixed—I think in two days—and keep that tenant happy is amazing.
How has your experience as a property owner changed since hiring them?
My ownership experience has been transformed in that, I don't think about it. I just look at my phone and say, 'I see we've been paid.' Their platform for taking care of that payment and handling the repairs that we've had to do is second to none. It is so easy to manage something now, because I have a team.
What is the communication and response time like?
The response time that HPM responds by is incredible. Jen is the main go-to and I am going to say within minutes, we are communicating. Jennifer gets that communication done immediately, and texts back to me saying, 'You're all set to go.' When it's heavier issues, Mitch is on it with the details that are relevant to the problem at hand. I give him a solid 10 on quick response time.
Would you recommend their services to others?
I recommend Hartford PM to any landlord that I've come in contact with. In fact, I need to talk to Mitch about a commission or something. This is getting ridiculous. I love those guys and, to whomever needs to have their property watched over safely, I recommend Mitch, and Jennifer, and Arthur.
