The interview
What was your life like before starting with INDIGO?
My life before Indigo was pretty chaotic because I had just found out that I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was on this long journey and venture to try to find a doctor who could really help me balance the conventional world of medicine and the integrative alternative world of medicine. I had just left a cancer center in California, and they kind of started my track on this alternative way of healing from cancer, but it was really far away, I was really at a loss.
What specific treatments were you looking for?
Specifically, what I had searched for was the RGCC testing. It took me a very long time to find Indigo because there are not a lot of practitioners that do the RGCC testing and Insulin Potentiation Therapy.
What was your first impression of Dr. Sharkar?
When I met with Dr. Sharkar, I just felt like she understood where I was coming from. She knew my backstory of my experiences with the conventional medicine world. She also understood how to integrate these both of these worlds. She had a certain vibe about her—very comforting, kind of like a mama bear vibe. I personally needed that because cancer is a very scary thing.
What kind of testing and initial results did you see?
Snejana did all of the testing from nutrition, looking at my environmental toxins that could be impacting my immune system, and my gut health. Snejana healed my gut pretty much in two weeks. Pretty much right off the bat, I was like, 'Okay, I'm sold! She knows what she's doing!' My gut hasn't felt this good in a long time, and I'm going through chemo and I can still eat.
What are your results now that you have completed chemotherapy?
Now I have completed chemotherapy and we have repeated the RGCC testing. Looking at the circulating tumor cells in my blood, that particular number that we had taken before chemotherapy has now come down. I feel great. I don't feel like I just went through four months of chemotherapy. I have lots of energy. I'm eating great. I'm slowly gaining weight, I feel at ease.
What was the biggest surprise about working with the INDIGO team?
The biggest surprise was the fact that I felt like family. I felt like I was taken care of. They knew everything about me. They gave you that personal feeling of, like, we're here for you at any time. Sarah or Dr. Isabel would email me right back or call me right back; whatever my concern was, it was addressed immediately.
Frequently asked
Where can I find a doctor who does RGCC testing and IPT?
Gabrielle Peeters searched for a long time because few practitioners offer RGCC testing and Insulin Potentiation Therapy. She chose INDIGO because Dr. Sharkar specialized in these specific protocols and understood how to bridge conventional and alternative medicine.
How can I maintain energy and nutrition during chemotherapy?
Gabrielle reported having lots of energy and the ability to eat well throughout four months of chemotherapy. She credits this to INDIGO addressing environmental toxins and nutrition to support her immune system while the chemo targeted the cancer.
Is it possible to feel like more than just a number in cancer care?
Gabrielle felt like 'just another person with cancer' in both conventional and other alternative settings. At INDIGO, she described feeling like family, noting that the team was immediately responsive to her concerns via email and phone.
