The interview

What was the best thing you got out of your work with Lisa?

The best thing I got out of my work with Lisa was that I felt that when I left, I had a plan that was super solid and really covered legally. Because I am negotiating moving away from using my medical license—although I want to hang on to the physical license—there are a lot of nuances. I was very happy to walk away with a well-rounded structure for moving forward in my own businesses that felt covered and lined up with who I am.

Can you tell us about your professional background?

I am an osteopathic physician, a functional medicine doctor board certified in family practice and also integrative and holistic medicine, preventive medicine and public health. I had a functional medicine practice and I'm moving into becoming a health coach and health mentor. I also teach other doctors and nurse practitioners about functional medicine and have a total health reset program.

What were your first impressions of meeting Lisa?

I met Lisa at a conference and I could immediately tell that she was a very real person. She really works from her heart and she loves what she does. I like the fact that she's very down to earth and she is also a very structured and organized person. I immediately felt like I could trust her and I wanted to be friends with her; I felt a kinship with her.

What was the structure of the retreat you attended?

The retreat I participated in was a one-on-one retreat located in Sedona. It was a 3-day retreat and we had two long sessions that were planned. I was put up in a 4-star resort and the weekend was basically planned, but she also planned special activities of my choice so that I could experience the magic of Sedona.

Did you have any initial hesitations about the retreat?

Initially, I was a little bit irritated because I had wanted to just have a business meeting and I at the time was not bringing in much income. The cost was a little bit high for me. There was a piece of me that felt like if I had done this just on Zoom we could have just had our business meetings and I wouldn't have had to fly here and I don't need all this luxury.

How did your perspective on the retreat change during the experience?

By the middle of the second day I actually got it. I got that there was a whole magic to the way Lisa does her retreats, because in allowing ourselves a little bit of luxury and taking time for self-care, it really went hand-in-hand with the very intensive work that we were doing on a legal level. The time outside of our meetings really allowed me to explore what I really wanted and what was in my truth about how I wanted to structure myself moving forward.

Frequently asked

Is a high-end in-person retreat worth the cost compared to a Zoom meeting?

Dr. Laura Robin initially felt the cost was high and preferred a Zoom meeting, but realized by the second day that the luxury and nature setting allowed for deeper self-care and clarity that complemented the intensive legal work.

The best thing I got out of my work with Lisa was that I felt that when I left, I had a plan that was super solid and really covered legally, and for me because I am negotiating moving away from my using my medical license— although I want to hang on to the physical license— there are a lot of nuances. So I was just very, very happy to walk away with a well-rounded structure for moving forward in my own businesses that felt covered and felt lined up with who I am and what I want to put out in the world. Hi, my name is Dr. Laura Robin. I am an osteopathic physician, a functional medicine doctor board certified in family practice and also integrative and holistic medicine, also preventive medicine and public health, and I had a functional medicine practice and I'm moving into becoming a health coach, health mentor. However, I also do teach other doctors and nurse practitioners and other providers about functional medicine and how to use functional medicine in their practices, and I have a total health reset program for folks who want to get their health back using functional medicine. Well, I met Lisa at a conference and I could immediately tell that she was a very real person. She really works from her heart and she loves what she does and really believes in what she does. I like the fact that she's very down to earth and she is also a very structured person and very organized person, and I immediately felt like I could trust her and I wanted to be friends with her. I mean, she was somebody who I really felt a kinship with. The retreat that I participated in was a... it was a one-on-one retreat and it was located in Sedona. It was obvious that she just loves that area and it felt like she really wanted to be able to use the power of that area and the beauty of that area to be able to give her clients a rounded experience, rounded retreat. So I arrived, I believe it was 3-day retreat and we had two long sessions that were planned, and I was put up in a 4 star resort and the weekend was basically planned. But she also planned special activities of my choice so that I could experience the magic of Sedona as well. For me, to be honest, initially I was a little bit irritated that because I had wanted to just have a business meeting and I at the time was not bringing in much income, I was in between projects, and so the cost was a little bit high for me. There was a piece of me initially that felt like... "Boy, if I had done this just on Zoom we could have just had our business meetings and I wouldn't have had to fly here and I don't need all this luxury." That was the first day, and then by the middle of the second day I actually got it and I actually got that there was a whole magic to the way Lisa does her retreats, because in allowing ourselves a little bit of luxury and allowing ourselves that opportunity to get out in nature and to take time for ourselves and self care, it really went hand-in-hand with the very intensive work that we were doing on a legal level, and the time outside of our meetings really allowed me to explore for myself what I really wanted and what I really needed and what was really in my truth about how I wanted to structure myself moving forward. So it did end up to be actually a really helpful way to do it, so really do appreciate that. So as far as Lisa goes, I love Lisa. Lisa is very down to earth. Lisa's super human, and she's superhuman in that she really is an expert in her field, and she also has the humility be able to work with just about anybody, I think, and she... what I like about how she works is she really believes in what she does and she does what she does really well.
