Kidney Function Increased from 18% to 32% Avoiding Urgent Transplant

It has been a really long, traumatic, frustrating journey to get here, but we're just thankful for the Kidney Institute for pouring into our life and teaching us and giving us the tools that we need to be successful and live a healthier lifestyle. Hi, I'm Bethany Jessop. I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before working with the Kidney we tried several different methods for my daughter, Stella Jessop. She was out of the hospital for about 2 years. She had a critical stage 4 chronic kidney disease. Her GFR was 18 % and she was on the brim of needing a kidney transplant. I had worked with several different doctors and all of them told me just keep waiting for a kidney transplant. I knew that there was something else out there and I came across the Kidney Institute in Houston, and we started working together as a team to help my daughter Stella. It was really frustrating because we had tried several different things, but as her mom, I knew that there was something more for Cella. I continued to advocate for her and continued doing my research, and I knew that there was something else out there for her. I just needed to find it. And that's when I came across the Kidney Institute in Houston. So I had done a lot of research and I had found that the Kidney Institute experience backed what they were doing on a day to day. They have worked at the Kidney of Excellence centers in the United States, and the services that they offered, I felt like really aligned with what I wanted for our family. So I, at that point, knew that I wanted to move forward with trying their program and trusting their practices as opposed to what we were doing before. The moment I realized that the Kidney Institute was making a positive impact on our daughter, stella, was really in insulin regimen, so her blood sugar regimen, her diet regimen, and her she was able to have a lot healthier stools, and blood work backed what I was seeing. on the day to day. The blood work was a validation that what we were doing was working to the root. So since working with the Kidney Institute, our lives have transformed by just having a more positive outlook on Stella's care. and the excitement that we have for her to live a more happy and healthy life. Her GFR, which is how her kidneys function, were at 18 % when we started working with the Kidney Institute. The other doctors wanted to transplant at 15. And since August - so August to December - we have been able to increase her kidney function to... 32 currently. So we have been able to get her out of the critical stage 4 chronic kidney disease and we are now in stage 3, and we're just continuing to maintain her chronic kidney disease. What surprised us the most about the online care was how responsive the team has been. We are in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and we see a team in Houston, Texas. being an online program, I can say that they have been more responsive and more caring than any local doctor that we have been to. It has been a completely different experience. They have been... very quick to respond, very quick to send over the blood work and things that we need. If anyone is watching this and feels hesitant to try something new, The Kidney Institute has truly changed our life for the better. I want that for so many people. I want them to change their life and be able to have solutions that other people aren't giving. They truly at so many other things that are going on in the body that other doctors don't look at.
