The interview

How did the course affect your financial future?

I definitely think the course changed my future financially. I'm lucky enough, I was able to pay off my debt for college already. So, I think what I took away from the course and how to budget and manage paying off my debt faster - as fast as I could - helped me because now I have the financial freedom to invest.

What was your level of financial knowledge before taking the course?

Before taking this course, I knew little to nothing about investing money. I was just a young high school student and knew nothing about it. I took the course to hopefully learn about it and definitely wish I paid more attention in high school because now all of that applies.

How did the course change your mindset regarding money?

I think taking this course definitely affected how I think about money now. Before taking the class, I think I wouldn't have been confident in opening my own accounts. Even when I got my first job four or five years ago, I still reached out to Mr. Teglas and asked him for help and just reiterating how I should invest my money.

What specific investment advice did you receive?

I asked if a Roth was better or not better at the time and making sure my company was matching what I was putting in to make sure that I was getting the maximum benefit from my company. Mr. Teglas was willing to walk me through step by step, even years after I graduated high school.

What were the most important lessons you learned?

Mr. Teglas always emphasized how important it was to make sure you can invest your money as soon as possible and invest as much as you can. I also learned the differences between the different types of accounts you can open and which ones are the most beneficial, like Roth 401K and Roth IRA.

Who would you recommend this course to?

I think everyone should take this course. I would have had no idea what a 401k was or how to deal with the debt coming out of college. I would recommend to anyone who's just looking to learn about what to do with their money, whether you're in high school or college, no matter what your age is.

I definitely think the course changed my future financially. I'm lucky enough, I was able to pay off my debt for college already. So, I think what I took away from the course and how to budget and manage paying off my debt faster - as fast as I could - helped me because now I have the financial freedom to invest. And also, I have more money to spend on myself if I want. I think those are probably the key things. Hi, my name is Erica Vasti. I am from Rockland County, New York. I graduated from North Rockland high school in 2016 and now I work the clinical specialist cardiac devices. Before taking this course, I knew little to nothing about investing money. I was just a young high school student and knew nothing about it - Took the course to hopefully learn about it and definitely wish, you know, I paid more attention and whatnot in high school because now all of that applies. So... took it for granted wanting to take that course. I think taking this course definitely affected how I think about money now. Before taking the class, I think I wouldn't have been confident in opening my own accounts. But even when I got my first job four or five years ago, I still reached out to Mr. Teglas and asked him for help and just reiterating, like, how I should invest my money and if if a Roth was better or not better at the time and making sure my company was matching what I was putting in to make sure that I was getting the maximum benefit from my company and all that stuff. Those were definitely takeaways from the course, but Mr. Teglas was willing to walk me through step by step, even years after I graduated high school and just reiterate all of that. Mr. Teglas always emphasized how important it was to make sure you can invest your money as soon as possible and invest as much as you can. I think the second thing I learned would be, differences between the different types of accounts you can open and which ones are the most beneficial. Roth 401K, Roth IRA. Just pretty much knowing what my options are in terms of investing. I talked to Mr. Teglas about where to invest my money and I talked him about the different stocks that I can invest my money in within the different accounts and whatnot. I think everyone should take this course. Like I said, I would have had no idea what a 401k was, how to deal with the debt coming out of college. I think I took away a lot of tidbits from it that were important and how I dealt with my own debt and investing. Honestly, I would recommend to anyone who's just looking to learn about what to do with their money, whether you're in high school, college. I think anyone who's just interested or wants to learn how to deal with their money in a smart way should take it, no matter what your age is.
