The interview
Who are you and what is your role at Perspectives?
My name is Becky Mason. I am the administrative assistant at Perspectives, and I have been with Perspectives for about ten months.
Can you tell us about your personal background and family life?
I am currently married to my husband of 14 years and we have two kids, ages ten and five. We are a military family; my husband is now in the reserves but he just completed a ten-month deployment. There are still very much military struggles that we deal with as a family.
How did you find this position and what was your initial impression?
I was looking for part-time jobs and I saw the job posted on Facebook. As soon as I had my interview with one of the clinicians, I just felt a connection there and I was excited to be here and help this office space thrive.
What is your primary goal in your role at the office?
I wanted to be a person that could take care of the clinicians and also take care of our office space and make it feel like a safe environment for the people that come here to receive therapy.
Why do you believe therapy is beneficial for people?
I think that therapy can be beneficial because life is really hard and we shouldn't have to do it alone. It is difficult for a lot of people to recognize that we need help or to ask for help, but it really is important for your overall health to take care of yourself as a whole.
What does the concept of 'holistic therapy' mean to you?
Holistic therapy means to me just the relationship that our minds and our bodies and our spirit have to each other and how they directly influence each other. A lot of times it's not until we have a physical response that we recognize that we're in need of maybe some help or some therapy.
