The interview

What would you say to someone on the fence about working with Heather?

I would encourage you to move forward because it's a very inspiring experience and I've grown a lot and my life has improved a lot since working with Heather.

What was your life like before working with Heather?

My house was very cluttered and I had piles of stuff here and there, mainly boxes of stuff. The clutter seemed to be a weight for me and it felt discouraging.

What inspired you to decide to work with Heather?

Seeing her leading the group and observing how encouraging she was to everybody to participate. She called people by name and there was no pressure to say something if they didn't want to; I had never seen a group leader do that before.

How did Heather help you live lighter?

She supported me to clean up my paper clutter. I tend to not want to let go of papers and she would suggest maybe having a ritual. That kind of suggestion really helped me to think about how to handle my overload of saving way too much paper.

How do you feel supported by Heather's coaching approach?

She calls it neutral. Neutral is the idea that things that happen aren't good and aren't bad, they're neutral and we can make our own opinion on how to approach these problems. This whole idea of neutrality was a game-changer.

What has been your experience with the group meetings?

It's been a beautiful experience of seeing people be open-minded, people who have been stuck in their story being open-minded and really getting some perspective on whatever the bigger picture is. I've been able to do that more because I've observed that happening in the group.

How has the program impacted your future outlook?

I think because I have participated in the program that it's going to make it much easier for me to get the bigger viewpoint on issues as they're coming up.
