He successfully transitioned off antidepressants and regained the ability to ride his road bike around the city, moving from symptom management to active neuroregeneration.

The interview

What was your health situation before starting with bVital?

I was experiencing tremor in my right hand, which made me extremely self-conscious. I had trouble standing erect, a tendency to stoop, and stiffness in my right side affecting my gait. I felt like I was losing my identity. I was taking medications like Rytary, Amlodipine, and an antidepressant to battle mood issues and tremors, but they were not healing me.

What was your experience with traditional medications?

Numerous rounds of medications failed me miserably and did not reduce my Parkinson's symptoms. I eventually titrated off the antidepressant because of negative side effects. My neurologist is very good, but they don't try to get to the origin or stop the Parkinson's; they only treat symptoms.

What specific therapies did you experience at Brain Camp?

We were exposed to treatment methodologies I'd never experienced, like red light therapy, the hand machine, and the brain light helmet. You can feel an immediate impact on your wellness. It’s not just one thing; it’s the combination of all the recommendations, including nutrition and supplements.

What physical improvements have you noticed since the program?

My balance is better. I'm able to ride my road bike all around the lake on city bike paths despite being diagnosed with Parkinson's for over six years. My strength has increased and my performance is better than it was before I was a patient of Dr. Eckel. I also dropped about seven pounds on the nutrition plan.

How did the Detect Kit testing process go for you?

The first kit was new and I didn't know what to expect. The second time was much easier because I had a baseline to compare it to. I was happily surprised to find I was very low on heavy metals, which gave me valuable information to use alongside my traditional MD's advice.

What lifestyle changes have you implemented at home?

My wife Margaret attended the nutrition sessions and established new healthy diet routines for us, including a metabolic reset. We've also removed as much plastic as possible from our household, doing away with plastic Tupperware to avoid toxins touching our food.

Frequently asked

Is bVital worth the financial and time commitment?

Gregory Shinn admitted he was initially on the fence about the cost and time, but concluded it was 'totally worth it.' He emphasized that investing in his health allowed him to regain functionality that traditional medications could not provide.

Can holistic treatments help with Parkinson's tremors and stiffness?

Shinn reported that while he still has a tremor, the program provided '15 minutes of relief' from stiffness he never thought possible and significantly improved his gait and performance beyond his pre-program levels.

How does bVital differ from traditional neurology?

According to Shinn, while his traditional neurologist focused on symptom-masking medications, Dr. Eckel and the bVital team focused on the origin of the condition and lifestyle changes to trend the body in a healthier direction.

#1 Brain Camp Video If you're on the fence right now and you are questioning whether you can go and whether you can afford to go, make the commitment, spend the money, go for it. It's totally worth it. Go there with the belief and an open mind that Dr. Eckel and his well-balanced team of professionals can help you get to a better place in your life and move you in a healthier direction. You will be better than you were before you went to Brain Camp. Figure out how to go about it and set the time aside from your schedule to attend Brain Camp. It is totally worth it. My name is Gregory Shinn and I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and I am an executive in the Oklahoma City Housing Authority Planning and Development Department, developing affordable housing for families across Oklahoma City. So I was experiencing tremor in my right hand, very noticeable to myself and to my wife, Margaret. I was extremely self-conscious about it. I have trouble standing erect all the time. tend to stoop over and I have stiffness in my right side, which affects my gait. I kind of feel lost. Who am I now? I'm like not the same person. There are deficits in your range of emotion, in your brain cognition, and your facial expressions may not reflect back. Exactly what's happening, which then results in people feeling like you're not listening or you're not tuning into them. But that's an involuntary response, just like I can't control the tremor. Those are all the things that I was working with my regular MD and taking medications like ritari and amlodipine and an antidepressant to battle some of the mood issues, to battle the effects of the tremors and the stiffness and to try to reduce the symptoms as much as possible through medication changes. But that's the place I was in before I started working with Dr. Eckel and certainly before even considering going to brain camp. Things I tried in the past that didn't work for me included numerous medications. I discontinued the antidepressant. I do believe that it had negative side effects. So I slowly titrated off that medication. So. I just have to say that numerous rounds of medications failed me miserably and did not reduce my Parkinson's symptoms. Keppra is another medication that I take, which is an anti-seizure medication. I still take those. They are not healing me. Even though my neurologist is very, very good, they're still not trying to get to the origin or stop the Parkinson's. I don't think they believe that it's possible to do that. I do believe that with Dr. Eckel, they believe they can do that. You're not going to make progress and get healthier if you don't believe that you can get healthier. You can't just live in a defeated space where there's nothing that you can do to try to get better. I had to put all of my skepticism aside. So when listening to Dr. Eckel and how he's transformed his protocols and updated them over time as he's learned what's worked better and better for all of his patients. He does instill hope that you can get better, that he has patients who have remained functional with fewer symptoms or even eradicated all of their symptoms. So it is possible with holistic lifestyle changes to get better and stay stronger for longer. But you have to believe in that. I know it's really hard to put aside your skepticism and you have to listen to the whole team of what they're trying to say. It's not just Dr. Eckel, it's all the professionals who are working underneath him who are trying to help you affect these lifestyle changes that can make you trend in a different direction. We were exposed to treatment methodologies that we had never experienced before, like the red light therapy. The hand machine, the brain light that you're exposed to when you wear the helmet, all of these things, you can feel an immediate impact on your wellness. I've experienced it. Again, it's not one thing; it's all the things that they're recommending for you. And the more that you can utilize all of them, the more that you can gain strength and lose weight, get your nutrition under control and really Be on top of where you are instead of living in a hopeless space where you're only taking pills that don't cure your Parkinson's. What surprised me the most about Dr. Eckel was how hard he has to work to get his message across to people that there is hope. Because the traditional Western medicine world has staunchly defended its position that all we can do is give you medications to help treat the symptoms. Dr. Eckel's message is contrary to that. He thinks that you can trend in another direction, that there is hope for you, that you can get better, you can get stronger, you can make progress in the face of Parkinson's, and that it's possible to reverse the effects of Parkinson's. The mindset of it is transformative once you buy in and you start to accept that these interventions do have power and they actually make a difference in your quality of life. also a financial commitment. It takes a lot of time commitment to follow these interventions, make these lifestyle changes, change the food that you buy, the food that you eat, the way that you cook, the supplements that you take; those cost money. But you know what? It's worth it. I've only got one life. My wife and I, we reaped the benefits when we were at brain camp. We think it's worth investing our money and our time to set aside to get the healing that we experienced. I can tell you my balance is better. I'm able to ride my road bike, go all around the lake in the city on all the bike paths that they have, despite the fact that I've been diagnosed with Parkinson's for over six years now. My strength has increased and my performance is better than it was before I was a patient of Dr. Eckel. If you're a Parkinson's patient and you've experienced your stiffness and your tremor for so many years, even 15 minutes, that is 15 minutes of relief that you never thought was possible. After working with Dr. Eckel, I'm more aware of the fact that I'm responsible for how I approach every single day. When you go through the brain camp, you have to log everything. What's your attitude and approach for the day? What's your positive mindset for the day? What are you going to accomplish today? And the professionals at Brain Camp help you while you're at the Brain Camp. They help you establish routines that you can implement every single day. When you approach the day differently, you're uplifted. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #2 Detect Kit Video I think the big difference is that they're willing to consider that there's other ways to improve your lives than just through traditional medication being prescribed by your MD. And I believe that there's a lot of power in that. My name is Gregory Shinn. I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and I'm a senior executive overseeing affordable housing development for the Oklahoma City Housing Authority. The first test kit that I did, I'd never been through anything like that before. It was all new. And so I didn't really know what to expect. And I also had no idea what the results would be. So the second time, taking the test, having the test kit, it seemed a lot easier. I knew that I had a baseline that it was going to be compared to. And so I'm more looking forward to the results now to see if there's any changes based on all the interventions that have been made. I was very happily surprised that I was very low on the heavy metals. I think that Americans in general are exposed to a lot of heavy metals. And so I was surprised to see that mine was really low and was not of significance. After the brain camp, I needed to listen to what some of the doctors told me, which was that other exercise that I was getting and some other things that were priorities in my life were more important than participating in the coaching calls all the time. So I have not focused on those. However, my wife, Margaret, who also attended brain camp with me, has attended especially the nutrition sessions and that has established new healthy diet routines for us. She's really paid attention to what she's learned in those nutrition coaching classes and she's applied it to our everyday diet as we went through the metabolic reset plan and then continued to eat these healthy diets. In addition, we've tried to remove as much plastic as possible from our household. Even though I tested low on metals and we're trying to not have any plastics touching our food or anything, we've done away with all the plastic Tupperware stuff we used to use and I think it's also very healthy for our bodies. So after Brain Camp, the whole course lecture and the lifestyle changes that it's trying to help you is really the program that we're on now. We're following the overall guidance of the coaching classes and what we learned at Brain Camp and then what we've continued to implement with lifestyle changes in our home overall, which I think is a very healthy and good outcome. The people at Be Vital, the doctors, all the technicians, the assistants, I think that they know and understand me. I think that they've tried to tailor a unique program for me. I've really stuck with it. I've stuck with all the supplements. And I can tell you as a result, it's making a difference with the nutrition and the supplements. I was never overweight, but I dropped about seven pounds on the nutrition plan. I've been going to physical therapy multiple times a week. I'm lighter, but I'm stronger than I was before I started this program. with a specific focus on balance and some of the other things that are so important that are an educational plan that's been rolled out by Be Vital and the doctors and the coaches and everything. I still have symptoms, but I'm more healthy all the way around than I was before I began the program. I think I'm in a better place both mentally and physically than I was before I started the program under Dr. Eckel because he believes that people can change and improve. He's already proved it with multiple patients over time. And so I can be one of those patients that is improving as well. I'm stronger than I was before. My balance is better. I feel healthier than I was before I ever began the program with Dr. Eckel. Even though I still have my tremor, even though I still have stiffness in my gait, I still have issues with sleep. But that's what it is when you're a 66 year old active male. who's trying to stay healthy and fit. And of course, I have to have my primary focus on my heart health and on my Parkinson's. I'm focused there and I do believe that Dr. Eckel has given me hope. Go through the Detect Kit. There's no reason not to get tested and to find out what your baseline biologics are. I really think it's valuable information that you can use even while you're working with your traditional MDs. It's good to know where you might be out of balance and where your nutrition can be changed to help you become healthier. If I did it, I know that you can do it. Anybody else can do it as well. And way that I'm approaching everything to try to stay as strong as possible. I'm in it for the long haul to be as healthy as I can for as long as I possibly can.
