Meighan Nalducci describes Transformative Listening as a highly efficient practice where emotional work happens in real-time. Unlike year-long conceptual programs, Meighan achieved immediate results, shifting from being triggered by her children to viewing their behavior as part of their own healing. She successfully identified and released deep-seated limiting beliefs by accessing her nervous system's safety with Ilya.

The interview

Can you introduce yourself and explain why you chose this program despite your busy schedule?

My name is Megan Naldutti, and I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I'm extremely busy; I'm a mom of three kids, I work full-time, and I sit on about four different boards as the president. I just don't have a lot of free time, so I wouldn't have done it so often unless it was truly transformative, which it is.

How does Transformative Listening differ from other personal growth programs you have tried?

The difference is that the work happens here and now. Other programs, including a year-long program I was in, were great conceptually, but I found myself hoping it would work month after month. With Transformative Listening, you're on the phone for an hour, you get off the phone, and the work has been done.

What specific problems or pain points were you struggling with before starting?

I knew what changes I wanted to make and I knew my limiting beliefs, like feeling I wasn't good enough, but I wasn't able to change them. I was frustrated because even after a year-long mindset group, I was still suffering. Ilya helped me realize I had to let it out in front of a loving other who is willing to witness it.

What is the experience like working with Ilya during a session?

When you're telling your story and you get tearful, giggly, or wiggly, he says, 'Right there. That's it. Stick with that.' He guides you down the path of depth to go to that pain point, open it up, and release it. He encourages you to cry or be angry rather than just lecturing you.

How has this work impacted your relationship with your children?

I was getting triggered by things like them raising their voices at me. Now, I realize it is nothing personal; it is just them healing their system. It has changed how I react as a mom of three.

What was a breakthrough moment for you regarding your nervous system?

He asked, 'When's the first time you felt that feeling?' and helped me see that what I was feeling wasn't happening right now—it was a memory. At that moment, I realized my nervous system was ready to go big and deep because it felt safe to release those things with Ilya.

What advice do you have for someone who is unsure about trying Transformative Listening?

Listen to your gut. Talk to Ilya and have him guide you through it. Do not listen to just your chattery mind that says you don't have the time or energy, because that is just you holding yourself back. Allow yourself this time to truly heal.

Frequently asked

Does Transformative Listening take a lot of time for busy professionals?

Meighan Nalducci, a busy mom of three and board president, initially worried about her 'chattery mind' saying she didn't have the time. However, she found the sessions so effective that the work is completed within a single one-hour phone call.

I'm extremely busy. I'm a mom of three kids. I work full-time. I sit on about four different boards as the president, and I just don't have a lot of free time, so I wouldn't have done it so often unless it was truly transformative, which is, it is. My name is Megan Naldutti, and I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Yeah, I mean, the difference between transformative listening and other personal growth programs is that it's like the work happens here and now. The other programs, including like a year-long program that I was in, it was great conceptually. It was great to kind of put on your calendar, and I found myself being like, "I really hope this is working. Well, it didn't work last month. I really hope it works this month." And transformative listening is like you're on the phone for an hour, you get off the phone, the work has been done. The thing that it's so helpful with, transformative listening is so helpful, I knew what changes that I wanted to make in my life and kept coming to the same pain points. And I was like, "I'm really frustrated. I've joined this year-long group to like change my mindset, and I'm still suffering at times, and I don't understand how this is possible." And Ilya was like, "But I do," and so you have to let it out in front of a loving other who is willing to witness it. I think the biggest problems for me personally that I was struggling with was, and it was interesting, I had kind of identified it. I knew my limiting beliefs. I knew that I felt like that I wasn't good enough, and I wasn't able to change those limiting beliefs without transformative listening. And when you're telling your story and you get a little tearful or you get a little giggly or you get a little like wiggly, and he's like, "Right there. That's it. Stick with that." And he just guides you down the path of depth to be able to go to that pain point, open it up, and release it. I'm a mom of three kids. Rather than lecturing me more, "How did it make you feel? You wanna cry? Cry. You wanna be angry? Be angry." I was getting triggered like, "Don't raise your voice at me," or, "Don't you talk to me." And now it's like this is nothing personal. This is them healing their system. Even when I started at first, I was like, "That's so helpful. That made sense." But this one in particular, he said, "When's the first time you felt that feeling?" Like I was feeling something. I don't know why I'm feeling this way. And he's like, "Great. It's not happening right now. This is like a memory. This is an old thing." And it was at that moment, I'm like, "Oh my gosh, my nervous system is ready for this." I can drop in so much faster. My nervous system is ready. We're gonna go big, and we're gonna go deep, and we're gonna talk about this stuff 'cause it's safe to release them in this room of transformative listening. It's safe to do it with Ilya. I mean, for those of you who are considering transformative listening and are unsure, I ... Listen to your gut. You'll just know. Talk to Ilya. Have a conversation with Ilya and have him guide you through it and listen to your gut and how you feel. I mean, your nervous system is just gonna tap into the safety and brilliance of this program. Do not listen to just your chattery mind who would be like, "Well, I don't have the time, and I don't have the energy, and I have to do all other stuff." Like, that's you holding yourself back. Allow yourself this time to truly, truly heal.
