Drs. Jesse and Denise of Dental Creations report that 3D Dentists helped their practice increase annual production by nearly $1 million in just one year. By implementing 'smarter' systems like clinical photography, 'walls talking' marketing, and dedicated treatment coordinators, they transitioned from micromanaging to high-value full mouth reconstructions and efficient business ownership.

I couldn't go back to dropping some of the things that we've implemented and the way we used to practice now that we know.

The interview

What was your practice like before working with 3D Dentists?

Before 3D Dentists, we were really good at the micro. We were pretty good at presenting quadrant dentistry and not as much single tooth dentistry. We've seen a massive uptake in the amount of full mouth reconstructions that we're doing. We're actually asking the patient if it's something that they want to do.

What specific results have you seen in your numbers?

As far as numbers go, we did increase almost a million dollars in one year. But there are procedures that they put in place with us and the recommendations that they've given us got us to that point.

Why did you decide to seek out consulting?

The reason we sought consulting was looking for some clarity on bringing some organization and time management back into our lives. I think we've gotten too good at micromanaging and not good enough at losing the big picture.

How has your clinical approach changed regarding patient presentation?

Dennis has been integral in allowing us to foresee things as simple as taking photographs and what that brings and how it has changed how we present and what we talk about to our patients. The 'wall's talking' took us too long to get implemented, but it's there, and people are asking about cases.

How does 3D Dentists differ from the four other consulting groups you used previously?

Each of them really taught us to work harder. And definitely with 3D, they're teaching us how to work smarter and more efficiently. Knowing that T-Bone and Sully work and manage in the real world is very significant because we also are back there with drills in our hands and management concerns. They have solutions for when this happens because they live the same lifestyle.

What has been the biggest shift in your role as practice owners?

Specifically allowing us to take time in the office as owners and not just dentists. They really have promoted us to take care of the business side of things, not just the patient side of things. Giving us the details, the procedures and protocols in order to maximize our time with our team.

Was it difficult to achieve such a large increase in production after 20 years of practice?

Denise and I have been practicing for almost 20 years together. We were definitely good at running and not feeling like there was any more time or how could we grow our numbers anymore. To increase by almost a million in a year, it's because of simple changes like the treatment coordinator, pictures, and the walls talking.

Frequently asked

How does 3D Dentists compare to other dental consulting groups?

Dr. Jesse notes that while four previous consulting groups taught them to work harder, 3D Dentists taught them to work smarter and more efficiently. He emphasizes that the founders, T-Bone and Sully, provide invaluable perspectives because they still manage real-world practices themselves.

Can a dental practice increase revenue without working more hours?

Yes, Drs. Jesse and Denise achieved a $1 million increase by implementing simple changes like clinical photography and treatment coordinators. They shifted from 'running' constantly to taking time as owners to maximize their team's growth and efficiency.

Is the 3D Dentists Mastermind worth the time away from the office?

Dr. Jesse describes attending the Mastermind as a 'no-brainer,' comparing the implementation of their systems to the essential nature of CEREC. He states that life without these changes now seems like an 'alien planet' he wouldn't want to return to.

So before 3D Dentists, we were really good at the micro. We were pretty good at presenting quadrant dentistry and not as much single tooth dentistry. We've seen a massive uptake in the amount of full mouth reconstructions that we're doing. We're actually asking the patient if it's something that they want to do. The wall's talking, which took us too long to get implemented, but it's there. And people asking a lot of these cases that we're doing, people have been with us for 10, 15 years, and they're like, "I can do that." As far as numbers go, we did increase almost a million dollars in one year. But there are procedures that they put in place with us and the recommendations that they've given us got us to that point. We are from Daytona Beach, Florida, and our practice is Dental Creations. The reason we sought consulting was looking for some clarity on bringing some organization and time management back into our lives. I think we've gotten too good at micromanaging and not good enough at losing the big picture. Dennis has been integral in allowing us to foresee things as simple as taking photographs and what that brings and how it has changed how we present and what we talk about to our patients. We have done consulting before. We've actually done four different consulting groups prior to this one, and each of them really taught us to work harder. And definitely with 3D, they're teaching us how to work smarter and more efficiently. So that's what we're gaining so much more than we ever have. Knowing that T-Bone and Sully work and manage in the real world is very significant in our decision from a management standpoint, from a running the office standpoint, because we also are back there with drills in our hands and doing the dentistry and then also having constant knocks on the door and management concerns and things whispered in our ears and notes passed too. Knowing that they live the same lifestyle and they have solutions for when this happens, I ask this, I do this, you know. Denise and I talk through everything and we think we come up with every solution and then they have a different perspective, which is always definitely invaluable. I would say specifically allowing us to take time in the office as owners and not just dentists. They really have promoted us to take care of the business side of things, not just the patient side of things. Giving us the details, the procedures and protocols in order to maximize our time with our team and also the way to have our team grow. Denise and I have been practicing for almost 20 years together. I think we've done a lot and we were definitely good at running and not feeling like there was any more time or how could we grow our numbers anymore. To increase by almost a million in a year, it's because of simple changes. If taking a few days off work to go to Mastermind to implement a few simple changes, treatment coordinator, pictures, walls talking. So it's one of those no-brainers. There's things in life and in our career where you're like, "Why did I wait so long?" For us, it was same-day dentistry. CEREC, we probably hit the brakes on that for five, six years before we jumped into it. And life without it now seems like a very alien planet I don't want to go back to. Same thing with 3D. I couldn't go back to dropping some of the things that we've implemented and the way we used to practice now that we know. I guess it's like a good parent. You want to just tell your kids, "Just don't do that. Do this and just do it."
