The interview
What was your initial goal when you arrived at 40 Years of Zen?
I walked into 40 Years of Zen wanting to upgrade my brain. It's not just about my brain, it's about my body, it's about my beingness, it's about my consciousness.
What was your first impression of the facility?
The minute I was here on the property, the energy you immediately gain when you walk on this property—it's a very sacred place here. I learned the ability to go from fast to slow and get it right in the right place and really dial in how you are being conscious.
What was your life like before starting the program?
Before 40 Years of Zen, my life was perfectly seeking perfection. I definitely saw tremendous opportunities in the world and I found myself always focused on the things that were most beneficial to my growth, but I didn't understand the depth of how the things that hadn't worked out in my life were sucking energy out of my ability to move forward.
How has your perspective changed after completing the week?
I am so excited about my intention to living with more integrity and gratitude and thus enhancing and expanding my consciousness. As I now look back, there is nothing in my life that gives me any friction or any irritation, but nothing but joy.
What did you think of the team and the program's creator?
I really trusted Dave Asprey and the team that he's built here to make this just an extraordinary week and it went way, way beyond my expectation. 40 Years of Zen is, I believe, Dave Asprey's greatest gem. You see that Dave is not just a biohacker, but someone trying to change this planet in a very positive way.
What were the highlights of the physical experience?
My biggest takeaway was not only did I experience a week of very healthy eating that was absolutely delicious, five star eating, but I experienced this abundant lifestyle that comes from really having a very full, expanded life. There isn't one thing here that really was a highlight because everything was fantastic.
How did the technology impact your brain function?
I came here for all the technology that was going to enhance my brain, to help my brain work in a faster, better, quicker, more effective way. I walked away recognizing that a lot of things that slow our brains down are our history. It's a mixture of this extraordinary technology with the ability to look at your life in a completely different way.
