The interview

How would you describe your life before and after 40 Years of Zen?

A week ago, my life was lacking consciousness of my own potential. After attending 40 Years of Zen, my life is filled with awareness about my own potential and enhanced ability to bring awareness and also be curious about everything around me. Before, my life was pretty okay—I have a great job and am supported by friends and family—but there was a lack of awareness on what my fundamental drivers were.

Why did you decide to say yes to the program?

What made me say yes was my own curiosity. I did this program with my wife as we were celebrating our ten-year anniversary. It was a leap in many ways because we had never did neurofeedback training before, and we loved the idea of taking a journey to our own minds and awareness.

Did you have any objections or hesitations before starting?

If there were any objections, it was fear of not committing to work, or a hesitation to dive into your own consciousness, and maybe even fear of what lurks beneath. Both my wife and I, our curiosities overrode any of those objections.

What part of the program did you appreciate the most?

What made me appreciate the program the most was definitely the people. The people component made the tech more humane and digestible. If I was just getting into a pod and sitting there for 90 minutes and listening to my own brain through advanced technology, that's great by itself, but when you combine that with caring people, it really brings to life the entire experience.

What shifted for you the most during the program?

What shifted for me the most was a connection with my inner child and the fundamental drive to learn about myself, the world, and the environment around me. It was a reminder that my inner child was a joyous human being that really loved to learn about new things.

How has the program impacted your view on daily habits?

Witnessing how my brain patterns organize themselves over a span of five days was really cool to see. It reminds me that a daily meditation practice is central to bringing a more balanced self to the workplace and also to my personal life.

What was your biggest takeaway regarding your relationship?

The biggest takeaway would be a renewed understanding of how our brains work and how we are different from each other. I learned so many things about my partner, and she learned things about me that was really helpful to elevate our relationship and take it to another level.

Frequently asked

Is it scary to dive into your own consciousness with neurofeedback?

Varun Adibhatla admitted to having a fear of what might 'lurk beneath' and a hesitation to dive into his own consciousness. However, he found that his curiosity, combined with the support of caring staff, overrode these objections.

Hi, my name is Varun Adibhatla, and I'm shooting this video because a week ago, my life was lacking consciousness of my own potential. After attending 40 Years of Zen, my life is filled with awareness about my own potential and enhanced ability to bring awareness and also be curious about everything around me. I highly recommend the 40 Years of Zen program because it offers an opportunity to connect with the most important person in your life. That's you. And also, if you bring a partner along, you can learn very interesting things about them and reveal interesting things about yourself through the power of neurofeedback and also caring people who really enjoy doing what they do. Before 40 Years of Zen, my life was pretty okay. I have a great job, I'm supported by friends and family. But there was a lack of awareness on what my fundamental drivers were, what motivated me, what kept me in a state of motivation and awareness. What made me say yes to 40 Years of Zen was my own curiosity. And I did this program with my wife. And so we were celebrating our ten year anniversary. Both of that really contributed to me saying yes. It was a leap in many ways. We never did neurofeedback training before, and we really loved the idea of taking a journey to our own minds and our own awareness. It was almost like we were taking a trip to another land. So that was really fun. If there were any objections that I had really, it was fear of not committing to work, or a hesitation to dive into your own consciousness, and maybe even fear of what lurks beneath. I think a lot. Both my wife and I, our curiosities, overrode any of those objections. What made me appreciate the program the most was definitely the people. The people component made the tech more humane and digestible. If I was just getting into a pod and sitting there for 90 minutes and listening to my own brain through advanced technology, that's great by itself. But when you combine that with caring people who really enjoy what they do, it really brings to life the entire experience. Moving forward, I am most excited about making sure that my inner curiosity comes out in the form of joy and bringing my whole self to all environments that I may inhabit. And not only bringing a spirit of feeling held, but also supporting other people in their own journeys. I'm really excited about that. Having gone through this program, what shifted for me the most was a connection with my inner child and the fundamental drive to learn about myself, the world, and the environment around me. And just a reminder that my inner child was a joyous human being that really loved to learn about new things and take people along for a really adventurous journey. Going forward the 40 Years of Zen program has really impacted my life by bringing a new sense of awareness to my own consciousness and the way I move through the world. Witnessing how my brain patterns organize themselves over a span of five days was really cool to see. And it reminds me that a daily meditation practice is central to bringing a more balanced self to the workplace and also to my personal life. The biggest takeaway would be an understanding, a renewed understanding of how our brains work, how we are different from each other in many ways. I learned so many things about my partner, and she learned things about me that was really helpful to elevate our relationship and take it to another level. And the fact that you could do this with a combination of technology and people is fabulous to see. The main reason I would recommend 40 Years of Zen would be to explore the depths of your own potential, whether it be curiosity, whether it be joy, and see how fabulously capable each and every one of us are. And just immerse yourself in that joy. Believe in the power of gratitude, and forgiveness is a big one, but also a belief in your own potential on changing your own world and changing the world around you.
