The interview
What is your background and why did you seek out Acta Football?
I live in Atlanta, Georgia, and my child has been playing soccer for about 10 years at a high level. The primary reason for me connecting with Garrett and Acta was for improving the cognitive processing side of his game.
What convinced you to move forward with the program?
I decided to move forward once I'd met with Garrett. I liked the methodology he described and the personal attention I'd get from Garrett and his team for my son, Ryan. The content felt advanced, yet structured well enough where a kid would be able to understand it.
How would you describe the coaching and feedback style?
They bring an excellent balance to constructing feedback based on a kid's age. It's a really good combination of technology and video review. The feedback is not generic; it is meaningful and highly contextualized to the way your kid plays and is tailored to the level they are at.
How flexible is the program regarding scheduling and location?
Scheduling is super easy. The team is extremely flexible and very accommodating. For example, Ryan started this program while he was playing in Spain and has now continued it while he's here back in the US.
What specific improvements have you seen in Ryan's game?
I've seen a change in what he does in open space with the ball. As a center back, he is now focused on taking open space and playing into that space. Garrett has been able to isolate small things—like timing, positioning, and technical items—that make a big difference in decision-making.
Who would you recommend this program to?
If you see your kid hitting a ceiling, this is probably one of the unlocks for them to go from being a good technical player to actually making an impact. The big difference between really good players and everyone else is the decisions they make and how quickly they decide to do it.

How does Acta Football handle remote training for players abroad?

Jay states the feedback is highly contextualized and not generic, focusing on specific clips of how the individual child plays. The feedback is tailored to the player's specific level and becomes more robust as they progress.
