The interview
Who are you and who do you support?
My name is Madeline Paula Effiong. Cody Sanchez precisely is the one I predominantly support. And she's known to be an industry leader in the media, and also in the finance advice world. So she's quite busy. In a nutshell, I support an extremely busy executive who works around the clock.
What was your professional background before joining Atlas?
I had worked as an EA for about two years, then decided to delve into the world of marketing. Then I decided no, I wanted to go back to what I loved and enjoyed doing. It was time to go back to my first love, so yes, I went back to executive assistance.
Why did you choose to work with Atlas Assistants?
They had rave reviews. So I was like, okay I think these are the best partners to work with. Most other agencies are all about the client themselves, not about the EA, which was the one thing which stood out for me with Atlas. I can see that they not only support the clients, they also support the EA and ensure that this is mutually beneficial to both parties.
What was the recruitment and onboarding process like?
Right from the recruitment process it was seamless, it was easy. Then when I was in an onboarding session, it's more like you're not a blank canvas—you're a canvas that has something on it, so they sharpen you and develop you. Their trainings and certifications are provided to ensure you're providing quality and top-notch services before and after the matching.
How has the Atlas community helped you in your daily work?
With Atlas, we have a community where we ask for help. We have that channel. So when you're dealt with a task that you've never tried before, you can come there and ask questions. This has built my confidence that anything that is thrown at me is not an issue because I can always come ask for help and I would definitely always get someone to help out.
How did the training change how you interact with your client?
One of my main challenges at my previous place was having the courageous conversation where, even where there was a challenge, being bold enough to address that was an issue. But during the training, that was constantly hammered on. Recently, I told my boss, 'No, hold on, we can do ABCD now, you can handle this, and these are tasks that you can totally delegate.' She actually complimented me, saying she loves the fact that I'm not just taking orders.
Would you recommend Atlas Assistants to others?
100% go for it. 10 over 10 recommended. The kind of client I work with today, I probably wouldn't have been able to work with that client on my own. Atlas gave me the platforms, the room, the right support, and the right training to equip me to be able to work with this person and excel while at it.

Yes, Madeline explains that Atlas has a community help channel where EAs can ask questions when dealt with unfamiliar tasks. This resource built her confidence that any challenge thrown at her is manageable because someone in the community will always help out.
