The interview

What was your life like before Breast Cancer Conqueror?

Prior to Breast Cancer Conqueror and having breast cancer I was Type A personality. I was pretty high powered. I got things done and I accomplished great things and I never took care of myself.

How did you first discover Breast Cancer Conqueror?

I was diagnosed eight years ago this month and I received Dr. V's book, 'Never Fear Breast Cancer Again' about three days after my diagnosis. My chiropractor, a nice Christian young woman, told me, 'Laurie, I think you need to read this book.' And I did and it just segued into me following them.

What was your experience with conventional treatments?

I did have a lumpectomy, which I'm glad I did, though I'm not sure I would do it again today because I was pushed into it so fast. I did not have to do chemo because my onco score was low enough. However, they really wanted me to do radiation and the five-year pill, but as I did research, they were things I decided I didn't want to do because I wanted a quality of life.

Were there any obstacles to starting the program?

If there was something that would have kept me from starting, it would have been the cost. We are not poor, but we are not wealthy. However, we were able to budget and plan. My coach De'Ann would tell me the things that would be the most helpful to me right now so they really worked with me as far as making it possible.

What specific therapies or changes did you implement?

I just jumped in with both feet. I had a root canal that wasn't great and we had that taken out, and I did other different therapies that Dr. V recommended. I also learned to make myself a priority and take care of myself.

What surprised you about the Breast Cancer Conqueror team?

How cohesive they are. Ginger is the first person you speak with and she's so helpful and encouraging. Dr. V is the head of the organization, however, she's so approachable and wonderful. I just found them like a family and a really supportive group of people.

Who would you recommend the 7 Essential Systems® to?

I recommend the 7 Essential Systems® to anyone that is going through cancer whether it's breast cancer or other cancer because it gives you an approach that allows you to do things step by step and feel like you're accomplishing something instead of running around in worry.

Frequently asked

Is Breast Cancer Conqueror affordable for those on a budget?

Laurie Littlefield-Baas initially worried about the cost as she was not wealthy, but found the team was willing to work with her. Her coach, De'Ann, helped her prioritize the most helpful actions to fit her budget and plan.

Can I avoid chemotherapy and radiation with this program?

While Laurie had a lumpectomy, she used the program's resources to research and ultimately decline radiation and the 'five-year pill.' She also avoided chemotherapy after an Oncotype score confirmed it wasn't necessary for her specific case.

What is the coaching experience like at Breast Cancer Conqueror?

Laurie describes the team as a cohesive family, specifically praising Ginger for being encouraging and Dr. V for being approachable. She worked closely with a coach named De'Ann for several years to implement specific health therapies.

Prior to Breast Cancer Conqueror and having breast cancer I was Type A personality. I was pretty high powered. I got things done and I accomplished great things and I never took care of myself. So, I learned quickly that the gift of this again, which Dr. V will ask, what was the gift? And the gift for this was for me to be someone that is taking care of myself. I still take care of other people really well also but I've made myself a priority and I did when I retired I drove to Georgia in my own car by myself from New Hampshire for my first meeting with Dr. V. It was when we were still doing live retreats in Atlanta and I just met wonderful people there. I kept in touch with them and it really empowered me to want to continue. Laurie Littlefield Baas and I'm from New Hampshire. Before working with 7 Essentials I was relatively a healthy individual. I didn't know that I had breast cancer. I was diagnosed eight years ago this month and I received Dr. V's book, "Never Fear Breast Cancer Again" about three days after my diagnosis. So, it was divine that I went straight to Breast Cancer Conqueror. My chiropractor, a nice Christian young woman told me, "Laurie, I think you need to read this book." And I did and again, it just segued into me following them. I did have a lumpectomy, which glad I did. I'm not sure I would do it again today. However, I was pushed into that so fast that I didn't have any idea of what was going on. So with that in mind I just felt again that it was, I was at the right place at the right time and Dr. V's 7 Essentials were provided so that I could move forward in a different manner. There was something that would have kept me from starting with BCC, it would have been the cost. We are not poor, but we are not wealthy and when I saw some of the costs, I went, "oh, my gosh, how are we going to do this"? However, we were able to budget and plan and Dr. V often will give you an idea of you can't do this, do this. I coach with De'Ann and I've coached with her for a number of years and again, she would tell me ideas but then say, these are the things that you could do that would be the most helpful to you right now and so they really worked with me as far as making it possible. As I said earlier, I fell upon Breast Cancer Conqueror right after my diagnosis. And I actually, again, I just felt blessed to have a program that had a root canal that wasn't great and we had that taken out and I did other different therapies that she recommended. I just jumped in with both feet and was very happy. I did not have to do chemo. I had an onco score done on the tumor and it was the low enough score so that they told me I didn't need chemo, it would probably harm me and I was very happy about that. However, they really wanted me to do radiation. They really wanted me to do the five year pill and as I did research they just were things that I decided I didn't want to do. I was young, I was 62 years old. So, I just felt like I wanted to have a quality of life and I was willing to take my chances. What surprised me the most about BCC and their team is how cohesive they are. Ginger is the first person that you speak with and she's so helpful and so encouraging and she talks you off the ledge and Dr. V is, she's the head of this organization. However, she's so approachable and so wonderful. We write letters back and forth once in a while and we speak some French together because we both speak French and I just found them like a family and a really supportive group of people that want their customers, their patients, their whatever they call us to feel like we're in a supportive group and we are. I recommend the 7 Essential Systems® to anyone that is going through cancer whether it's breast cancer or other cancer because it gives you an approach that allows you to do things step by step and feel like you're accomplishing something instead of running around in worry and it's really, really helped me to have a focus but yet not feel that I'm fearing breast cancer. So, I just am looking to maintain a good quality of life.
