The interview
What made you want to attend the Cancer Freedom Retreat?
What made me want to do the Cancer Retreat was the fact that there's nothing else like it. It's taking all the moving pieces of care and translating it into daily implementation and showing you in a relaxed environment that it's doable for anybody.
Did you have any hesitations or obstacles before joining?
The thing that made me almost not do the Retreat was all the logistics. How would I pay for it? How would I get there? My brain automatically went to all the reasons not to, and I can't believe that any one of those would have kept me from the incredible learning experience and the life changing impact that it was.
What surprised you most about the experience?
What surprised me the most about the Cancer Freedom Retreat was how relaxing and hopeful it felt. I mean, we're there discussing the scariest things that people can go through, and we're opening up and sharing experiences, and there's trauma and there's fear, and yet the overall feeling at that Retreat was, 'we can do this. We've got this. We're in good hands.'
How did the retreat help you manage the overwhelm of your diagnosis?
With a cancer diagnosis, the overwhelm is immediate and can swallow you up. This Retreat really broke it down and made it doable. You saw the food, you saw the rest and repair. You saw the therapeutic methods of self care, and it was easy.
What was the most valuable part of the retreat for you?
The most valuable part of the Cancer Retreat is probably the connection. People who understand the journey, who have been through exactly what you're going through. That connection is unlike anything I've seen anywhere else. You leave with friendships and lifelong resources, and you leave feeling filled instead of empty.
What were the Q&A sessions like with Katrina?
The Cancer Freedom Retreat included these powerful question and answer sessions in an intimate setting. Anything you want to speak up or open up about is fair game. Katrina not only welcomed that, but had so much a wealth of knowledge and information and experience that it ended up being really powerful.
How would you describe working with Katrina Foe?
Katrina is a gift. She's been where you are. She's experienced the fear. She's experienced the questioning. So when you stack that on top of her experience as a practitioner, her wealth of knowledge, her incredible breadth of understanding, you just have this powerhouse. You have someone to filter all the confusing information for you.
