The interview

Can you introduce yourself and the challenge your organization was facing?

My name is Chanelle Martens. I'm a senior director of learning and development at Town Square, which is a product development company to support the property management industry. In 2025, we received approval to stand up a brand-new centralized learning and development team. In the process of planning, I discovered we needed a learning management system. We chose TalentLMS, but unfortunately, our LMS administrator left the company unexpectedly during the most challenging possible time of deploying it to our first-ever clients.

How did you connect with Cobblestone Consulting?

I had great support from TalentLMS, but it became very apparent that I needed more help. So they recommended Cobblestone and I'm so glad I got to meet them. I worked very closely with Lori and Megan.

What was Cobblestone's approach to helping you rebuild your LMS?

They came along and really helped us rebuild our LMS to fit a very unique training plan and training delivery model. What I appreciated in the approach was really taking an inventory of where we were at to start, and Megan did a remarkable job just inventorying and giving a full spread of what we had. Then I asked them to help me drill in and find the best practices.

What specific operational improvements did they implement?

I got a ton of great feedback on how to keep my LMS up to date, have current courses and users, and have a whole QA process that keeps it in check. In addition, I had them build a straw man of what a brand new way of looking at this LMS could fit for our training plan. They brought a brand new operating model for how we build and maintain our LMS, including how to manage ILTs and engage instructors.

What were the measurable results of this partnership?

We cut down the amount of time I was spending as a senior director, our LMS administrator, and our instructors. Another measurable result was using the LMS to measure training readiness. Megan worked closely with my LMS administrator to simplify reporting using pivot tables. That allowed us to have different thresholds so we were aiming to get the mass majority of our learners above 75% completion.

Would you recommend Cobblestone to others using TalentLMS?

I would highly recommend working with Cobblestone if you are using TalentLMS as a new LMS in your organization. They have a strong understanding of the infrastructure and backbone of this product. I knew that I could trust the work that they did and I could trust that they know what they're doing and could give me recommendations and I could go and execute on those.

Frequently asked

What should I do if my LMS administrator leaves during a critical deployment?

Shanel Martens faced this exact challenge at Town Square and turned to Cobblestone Consulting. They stepped in to inventory existing assets, establish best practices for QA, and build a new operating model to maintain the system effectively.

How can I better measure training readiness in TalentLMS?

Shanel Martens reports that Cobblestone simplified reporting by using pivot tables to track different thresholds at specific time marks. This allowed her team to ensure the mass majority of learners were above 75% completion before product go-live.

Is Cobblestone Consulting a reliable partner for TalentLMS users?

Yes, Shanel Martens highly recommends them because they have a strong understanding of the product's infrastructure and a close relationship with TalentLMS, allowing her to trust their recommendations and execution.

I just loved working with Megan and Lori as people and they bring a yin and a yang to the work that they do with complementary strengths. My name is Chanelle Martens. I'm a senior director of learning and development at Town Square, which is a product development company to support the property management industry. In twenty twenty-five, we received approval to stand up a brand-new centralized learning and development team. And in the process of planning for that, I discovered we needed a learning management system. So we chose TalentLMS and quickly got on board. But unfortunately, the person that was our LMS administrator left the company unexpectedly, and it was during some of the most challenging possible time [laughs] that could happen of deploying it to our first-ever clients. I had great support from TalentLMS, but it became very apparent that I needed more help. So they recommended Cobblestone and I'm so glad I got to meet them. Worked very closely with Lori and Megan, and so they came along and really helped us rebuild our LMS to fit a very unique training plan and training delivery model. What I, I appreciated in the approach was really taking an inventory of where we were at to start, and Megan did a remarkable job kind of just inventorying and just giving a full spread of what we had. And then what I did is I asked them to help me drill in and find the best practices. I got a ton of great feedback. So that's everything from, like, how do I keep my LMS up to date and have current courses, current users in there and have a whole QA process that's keeping it in check so it doesn't get out of control. In addition, I had them build like a straw man of what could a brand new way of looking at this LMS fit for our training plan. So what I did is I sent them tons of documents that would help them go and build a straw man in TalentLMS. We gave them access and that's where a ton of new discovery came about. And then you have your ILTs and how you manage those and engage your instructors. And so in the end, [laughs] I really think they brought a brand new operating model for us of how we build and maintain our LMS to support a unique training plan. We cut down the amount of time I was spending as a senior director, our LMS administrator, and our instructors. Another measurable result was we needed a way to use the LMS to measure training readiness as they get ready for a go live with implementing our products. TalentLMS has a lot of great ways to do that type of reporting and so Megan worked very closely with my LMS administrator to kind of simplify that using pivot tables. And that allowed us to have some different thresholds at different time marks before go live so that we really were aiming to get the mass majority of our learners above seventy-five percent completion. I would highly recommend working with Cobblestone if you are using TalentLMS as a new LMS in your organization. They have a strong understanding of the infrastructure and backbone of this product. They work super closely with TalentLMS. Their relationship with TalentLMS is really strong. I knew that I could trust the work that they did and I could trust that they know what they're doing and could give me recommendations and I could go and execute on those, and that's what you're really looking for from a consultant.
