The interview
What was your life like before finding Dr. Rob Whitfield?
My life before Dr. Rob was getting implants back in 2008 and running to 15, maybe 17 different doctors to find out what the heck is going on with me. My health was not good. I felt like I was falling apart. I had a move, a divorce, a small child, and my father passed away, all while dealing with these symptoms.
What specific symptoms were you experiencing?
I had horrible back and neck pain, brain fog, anxiety, fatigue, depression, dry skin, dry hair, hair loss, and rashes. I also had hearing loss, a toxic plastic odor, headaches, heart racing, chest pains, joint pains, and neuropathy. My lower back pain was a ten, absolutely debilitating.
How did you discover that your implants might be the cause?
Nobody ever asked me until one naturopath doctor asked, 'You have implants? Could it be your implants?' That was the trigger for me. I realized you can't get your hormones balanced until you get other things balanced when you've got toxic bags in you.
What was unique about Dr. Rob's HARP protocol?
HARP is phenomenal because I had consulted with other explant surgeons, but no one spoke of the things we need to do before surgery, for surgery, and after to help the body heal. I can't imagine just having your implants out and not doing all the other things that need to be done from the holistic approach.
What was your immediate recovery experience like?
I have never been through such an amazing experience with surgery. I had surgery on a Thursday, and I was like, 'let's go to lunch and go shopping' on Saturday with my girlfriend. Dr. Rob told me to get out and walk, and I felt great.
How do you feel now, eight months after the procedure?
I have my life back. I feel connected to me again. I don't have my depression, I don't have the headaches, and I don't have the brain fog. My lower back pain, which was a ten, is a three now. I feel like a completely different person.
Who else assisted you in this recovery process?
I found Candice Barley (Olisticolife) on Instagram, and she has been amazing. Also, Krista, who is Dr. Rob's physician's assistant, has been amazing with helping me go through the detox program that Dr. Rob offers.
Frequently asked
Will my doctor believe my Breast Implant Illness symptoms?
Molly LaPorta noted that after seeing 15 to 17 different doctors who dismissed her symptoms as stress or hormones, Dr. Rob Whitfield was the first to truly listen. She emphasized that he and his team, including PA Krista, make patients feel heard rather than 'crazy' or like a 'fool.'
What makes Dr. Rob Whitfield's explant process different?
According to Molly, Dr. Rob utilizes a holistic approach called the HARP protocol, which includes specific preparation months before surgery and a comprehensive detox program afterward. She felt this was superior to other surgeons who only offered the removal without the necessary healing protocols.
How long is the recovery after explant surgery with Dr. Rob Whitfield?
Molly reported an exceptionally fast initial recovery, stating she felt ready to go to lunch and shopping just two days after her Thursday surgery. Eight months post-operation, she continues to feel like a 'completely different person' with significantly reduced pain and no depression.
