Seven Year Old Achieves Best Night's Sleep Ever Following Frenectomy and Collaborative Care

When I saw the tools I thought, "Oh, this is gonna hurt." But then, like, when they started doing everything, like, I didn't feel anything It's been helping me a lot. Like, without my tongue tied. It's been helping a lot. Hi, I'm Taylor Kunze and this is my daughter Charlie. We are from Melissa, Texas and we had Charlie's frenectomy done at the age of seven in a half. So, I am a speech language pathologist and have knowledge in this area and training. So, It really wasn't a huge shock to me. I was kind of the one initially that saw the red flags that she had and started pursuing this avenue. So, we were fairly aware but ready to get it taken care of. I - through research - had been able to just see the positive impact that it had had not just with feeding but in speech, but also with sleep and overall regulation. And so the area of sleep was what really - we noticed with Charlie. As well as her emotional bucket was pretty full most of the time. We didn't have a lot of bandwidth to add more to it when situations would occur. So we could tell that her body was in fight-or-flight, most of the time. And so knowing that... we could possibly see improvement with that just by being able to release that tension within her fascial system, we were ready to see those changes. I think that the best part of the entire process was the collaborative effort of everybody on our team and just how well the team worked together to achieve the outcomes that we needed. So, between her myofunctional therapy, between Dr. Ingram and John at Ke Kino, it was a seamless process. Everyone just communicated so well together and made it a really great experience. We have seen immediate results from Charlie's release. And I think that the benefits definitely outweigh the discomfort that the child might feel. This is going to set them up for lifetime of success and health. It's something that I wish that I would have known about or my parents would have known about when I was her age. The first night after my release... I used to be a mouth-breather but, like, the first night, I didn't mouth breathe... for the first time. You said, "that was the best night's sleep I have ever had!"
