The interview

How would you describe your overall experience with Geobear?

It went very, very smoothly indeed. Really good communication. I was very happy with everything.

What specific problem were you experiencing with your property?

The problem that we had was that there was some settlement on the bay window at the front of the house which was caused by shrinkage and expansion of clay in the subsoils. There was some cracking on the inside, on the plaster work on the inside of the bay at the lower level, and also on the outside there was some brickwork cracking visible on the outside of the property on the two corners of the bay.

Why did you choose Geobear's resin injection over other methods?

I come from a construction background and so what I was targeting was a solution which wouldn't require extensive excavation below the foundation, so that it was minimizing the amount of work. I was aware that the resin injection system allows some positive pressure to be applied which would lift the foundation back, compensating and closing up the cracks.

How did Geobear compare to other companies you considered?

There was one other company that I had considered which offered a similar process. I had two comparable quotes and I opted to go with Geobear; you were also most competitive on the price as well. I was very attracted by the 10-year guarantee you offer as well.

Can you describe the timeline and efficiency of the work on the day?

I made the first inquiry on the 27th of August and the work was scheduled for the 21st of October. The team turned up promptly at 8 o'clock and they were completed by 12 o'clock. The guys were very efficient and very good at communicating; they even provided me with a radio so I could keep an eye on the lift from the cellar while they worked outside.

What was the final outcome of the project?

They were done by lunchtime and that was it. I just had to go and reinstate my block paving. I'm happy the cracks closed up on the inside and the outside to the degree that I wanted. I'm very happy with Geobear, from the initial inquiry to the technical detail and the cleanliness of the work.

Frequently asked

Is Geobear more expensive than other foundation repair companies?

According to Simon Bethell, Geobear was the most competitive on price after he compared quotes from two different companies offering similar resin injection processes.

How disruptive is the Geobear resin injection process?

Simon Bethell noted the process was much less intrusive than traditional excavation. The work was completed in a single morning, requiring only the temporary removal of some block paving which he reinstated himself afterward.

Does Geobear offer a warranty on their foundation work?

Yes, Simon Bethell specifically mentioned being attracted to the 10-year guarantee offered by Geobear as a key factor in his decision to hire them.

I sort of... i come from a construction background and so what I was sort of targeting was a solution which wouldn't require extensive excavation below the foundation, so that it was sort of minimizing the amount of work. and I was familiar with the sort of resin injection process. I've heard about geobear before, and so I was very interested in sort of finding out what solution they would offer. that's why I sort of made the inquiry through to them previously. So... I was aware of the fact that the resin injection system obviously is on the subsoils below the foundation, so the areas where there has been shrinkage. that it allows some sort of positive pressure to be applied which would lift the foundation back. Not necessarily getting it back to the original position that it was at when the house was first built, but at least compensating and sort of closing up the cracks on the inside and the outside to lift the foundation. there was one other company that I had considered which offered a similar process. So I sort of went through the whole inquiry process with them as well. So had two comparable quotes and I opted to go with GeoBear, and you were also most competitive on the price as well. so I was very attracted by the 10-year guarantee you offer as well. the fact that it was less intrusive than doing the excavation was something that attracted me to 'That's the solution' and to geobear doing it. There's a cellar under my house and there's also access under the floor as well. So I, from the inside, kept an eye on what sort of lift was going on and made sure there wasn't any sort of undue movement. They were on the outside, applying the pressure and doing the drilling. they were done by lunchtime and that was it. I just had to go and reinstate my block paving, so yeah... I'm happy the cracks closed up on the inside and the outside to the sort of degree that I wanted and very happy with geobear. very good to deal with. from the initial inquiry agreeing sort of a technical detail, the money side, paying the deposit, paying the final balance, cleanliness, the way you guys worked... very happy with it.
