The interview

What made you decide to work with Susan Fox?

What made me say yes to working with Susan was mainly how comfortable she made me feel. I had never been to acupuncture before, but I knew it was something that I was interested in. I was in my fertility journey, looking for support systems and different people who could help the process be more seamless and easier for me.

What was your experience like working with Susan from the beginning?

Susan was great from day one. She was able to tell me a lot about her practice and what she was able to do. She did a lot of prescribing different supplements for me if I was interested, but was never pushy about it. She was always able to answer my questions, but didn't push any of her own beliefs on me unless I specifically asked for them.

What struggles were you facing before starting the program?

Before working with Susan, I had been struggling to get pregnant, and I had been trying naturally for some time, and I didn't really know why. No one was able to explain why I wasn't able to get pregnant. I was looking for any type of answer or any type of help.

How did Susan support you during your fertility journey?

She didn't provide an answer about why I wasn't getting pregnant, but was able to provide support and help and some advice on what she would do and how I could treat my body in different ways and how I could use acupuncture to relax while I was going through that experience.

Did you have any hesitations before getting started?

I think it would have been the fact that I just didn't really know what direction I was going in and didn't know what the best thing was for my body, whether I was going to explore something like IVF immediately or whether I wanted to try a few other things first. I did start working with Susan before going down that route, and I think it was really helpful for my body and for my mind.

What was the outcome of your IVF process while working with Health Youniversity?

I decided that I was going to move forward with IVF. I was regularly seeing Susan, and I had that peace of mind. Before I was going in for egg retrieval, I would see Susan at the specific times, and it made me feel a lot more relaxed and comforted. I went forward with transfer last February, and it was successful. I'm 39 weeks pregnant right now, so I will hopefully have my first baby girl next week!

What specific lifestyle changes did you make?

The changes that I made to my lifestyle were mainly supplement based and then also introducing light exercise techniques, being really gentle with my body, going to prenatal yoga or prenatal Pilates or doing specific massage techniques.

My name is Elizabeth Lesser, and I'm in Mill Valley, California. What me saying yes to working with Susan was, I think, sort of really mainly how comfortable she made me feel. I had never been to acupuncture before, but I knew it was something that I was interested in. I was in my fertility journey, sort of looking for support systems and different people who could help me through and help the process be sort of more seamless and easier for me, given that there were a lot of parts of it that were really difficult. Susan was great from day one. Really made me feel comfortable. Was able to tell me a lot about her practice and what she was able to do. She did a lot of prescribing different supplements for me if I was interested. Always offered different things to me, but was never pushy about it. Was always able to answer my questions, but again, didn't push any of her own beliefs on me unless I specifically asked for them. So just felt really comfortable with her from day one. Before working with Susan, I had been struggling to get pregnant, and I had been trying naturally for some time, and I didn't really know why. No one was able to explain why I wasn't able to get pregnant. I was looking for any type of answer or any type of help. And so when I started working with Susan, she didn't provide an answer about why I wasn't getting pregnant, but was able to provide support and help and some advice on what she would do and how I could treat my body in different ways and how I could use acupuncture to relax while I was going through that experience. I think if there was anything that made me hesitate getting started with Susan, I think it would have been the fact that I just didn't really know what direction I was going in and didn't know what the best thing was for my body, whether I was going to explore something like IVF immediately or whether I wanted to try a few other things first. And so I did start working with Susan before going down that route. And I think it was really helpful for my body and for my mind. I decided that I was going to move forward with IVF. And so I was working with an IVF clinic and during that time just regularly seeing Susan. And so I had that peace of mind. Like before I was going in for egg retrieval, I would see Susan at the specific times, and it made me feel a lot more relaxed and comforted. I went forward with transfer last February, and it was successful. So I was pregnant, and I'm 39 weeks pregnant right now, so I will hopefully have my first baby girl next week! The changes that I made to my lifestyle were mainly supplement based and then also introducing sort know, light exercise techniques, being really gentle with my body, going to prenatal yoga or prenatal Pilates or doing specific massage techniques. I would recommend Susan to anyone on this journey because of her expertise and really because of how warm and wonderful and comfortable she has made me feel throughout the whole process. So I felt like I could share anything with her. She would always give me really great advice and had a really clear path for how often and I should be seeing her or could be seeing her or what else I could be doing in my life to help myself along. I just. Want to thank Susan for all of the support that she's given me throughout this fertility journey. It has been a process, and I'm really fortunate to have found her and feeling really hopeful and grateful for the next step in my journey as a mother.
