The interview

What have you gained as a member of the Healthspan Collective?

There's a lot to gain both personally and professionally. Personally, I've learned so much about longevity and healthspan. Getting to engage with speakers and members from various fields—life sciences, healthcare, tech—it's really shaped my perspective. Professionally, it's been a fantastic outlet to network and build professional ties. As an attorney supporting healthspan-focused businesses, I've seen direct ROI in terms of client referrals, speaking opportunities, and engagements.

Who are you and what is your professional focus?

My name is Galen Hethcote, and I'm a healthcare attorney at Arent Fox Schiff. I'm a member and co-leader of the firm's Longevity and Healthspan Industry Group. I've positioned myself to help support businesses in this space navigate the interesting and novel legal and regulatory issues they encounter.

How would you describe the atmosphere and structure of the events?

Intentionality is embedded in everything that the Healthspan Collective does. It hosts curated salons and other events that bring together a diverse group of individuals across healthcare, life sciences, wellness, fitness, investment, and other related sectors. A defining characteristic is just how immersive they are. There's often some physical component, some fitness element, or some other immersive experiential aspect in addition to networking.

How did your relationship with the collective begin and evolve?

My first exposure was attending the Longevity Leadership Conference in 2025. I went out of curiosity, both personally and for business development. In the year since then, my relationship has grown and expanded. Earlier this year, my firm, Arent Fox Schiff, was actually one of the event hosts for the 2026 Longevity Leadership Conference.

What was the outcome of your firm's involvement in the 2026 conference?

That was a fantastic event. One of my colleagues and I participated on a moderated panel about regulatory risks in this space, and we got a tremendous amount of positive feedback from our involvement. The collective has been a fantastic partner and collaborator and has been a source of referrals for me and my colleagues.

What does 'healthspan' mean to you personally?

Healthspan, to me, is a measure of the quality of one's life. It really asks the question, are you living your best life and being your best self? We're seeing a whole sector emerge around this concept, from biomarker testing platforms to wearables to concierge medical practices.
