The interview

Can you introduce yourself and your company?

Hello, my name is Josh Pratte, founder, president, and CEO of Rightway Medical. We're corporately based out of Westerville, Ohio. Rightway Medical is classified as a specialty IV distributor, and we focus predominantly in markets that are outside of the hospital.

What were the primary challenges you faced as your business grew?

I started this business twelve years ago, actually out of my garage. Some of the challenges were we were growing so rapidly and growing into a lot of different states. Each state had a different law and a different rule and a different set of criteria to operate, and I was trying to manage that by myself.

How did managing payroll across different states affect your operations?

The other piece that was really hard to manage was our payroll. Being that we had employees in different parts of the country and different states, there's different payroll criteria, different demands, and different filings that needed to take place. Those employees also had different needs from an insurance perspective.

How has Insperity assisted with your recruitment and compensation strategy?

Insperity helped us take a look at each one of our job descriptions, fine-tune it, rewrite it to what is germane to our business, and then also evaluated what our history had been on either total compensation to an employee, including benefits or variable compensation. Our ability to look at that on a regular basis in an efficient manner is a huge benefit.

What was the process like for updating your company policies and handbook?

When we initially looked at our business, we looked at the handbook in its entirety. From the handbook to managing paid time off to rewriting some policies as it relates to personal conduct within the organization. It's something that they really collaborated with us on, and it was a very timely, efficient, detailed process.

How would you describe your long-term experience with Insperity?

Insperity has done an amazing job for us from top to bottom. The initial onboarding to the time that we're working on a day-to-day basis with updating HR and managing payroll. We've been a longstanding client now for going on almost five years, and it couldn't be a better experience.
