The interview

What advice do you have for someone considering Sunrise Community?

If you're considering moving to Sunrise Community, please talk to the leasing agents and get to know the management in the facility and they will pay attention to your needs and try to get you in as quickly as possible.

Can you introduce yourself and where you live?

Yes, my name is Dwayne Allen and I stay over here in the Ridge Brook community of Fort Wayne for the Sunrise. I am a forklift operator warehouse worker, in between that and coming home to my luxurious mobile home.

What was your housing situation before coming to Sunrise Communities?

Before coming to Sunrise Communities, I was down the street at Extended Stay for like six months. And I stayed there while moving back to Fort Wayne. I was looking for a place to call my own. And that's when I drove by and seen the community and wondered. And then we called to get the application started.

How has your experience been since moving into the community?

Well, I've been in the community now, I would say this is my second month in a nice, luxurious mobile home unit. And I did have some trouble with a frozen water issue, but the maintenance man came by and fixed it within a couple of hours. So, you know, it's been great.

What does it mean to you to have a home at Sunrise Community?

Well, to be able to come home to Sunrise Community, I mean, I have a place for my family and me to prospectively call home. It's a chance and opportunity to get ourselves together, work together to make another day a better day.

What are your neighbors like in the community?

Well, I did meet a couple of my neighbors. My one neighbor, you know, he's quite friendly. I talked with him on several occasions. Now I talk to him all the time. We're just waiting for it to heat up so we can enjoy some nice little barbecue.

How would you describe the management and maintenance responsiveness?

Well, it's the coolness in the matter of other things. And if I bring up the issue, somebody does address it. I did notice the maintenance man was out working on our ice for the gutters so the water could go down as soon as the ice started melting. So he was on it immediately.

How do you feel about the overall environment?

Everyone I talked to has been rather decent conversation. You wave at people and try to help out when you can. It just feels comfortable just rebuilding something new.
