The interview

How did you first become aware of Jessica Zweig?

I met Jessica for the first time probably 20 years ago. I used to freelance for one of her magazines that she used to own back in like 2009. I wanted to hire her when she had her marketing business, but I had just started my business and I didn't have the money to hire her. I just knew her reputation as a successful female business owner.

What is your professional background and current business status?

My name is Kate Johnson. I am the owner of the Bridal Beauty team and Glossed Finishing Studio and I live just outside of Chicago. I had grown one of my businesses to about $1.3 million a year, and I've had it for 15 years.

What specific challenge were you trying to solve when you joined the program?

I couldn't quite figure out how to get to that next level where I now have two young children, and I was trying to figure out how to be able to have a life with my children and also maintain having a successful business. I always say, feel like you can see through the glass ceiling, but you can't figure out how to get there.

What was your initial reaction to the focus on feminine energy?

It irritates me to have to like lean into that feminine things. It's not who I am. So when I went to this initial call with Jess, I was like, okay, they are really talking about learning how to tap into that feminine energy. And I clearly don't know how to do it.

What did you learn about feminine power through the coaching?

What she really taught us was to understand the difference of really how powerful women are back to like caveman days. The women ran the tribes, because the men were off hunting. How are they so powerful that they could run whole communities, and how do we show our confidence and all of that and still be able to be moms?

How would you describe the coaching style and methodology?

She really gave the tools, like actual tools for us to practice and learn to be able to change our business. She also gives you actual goalposts to hit and achieve. Versus like a lot of other coaches and a lot of other trainings, it's just like in theory. She really was very practical and tactical, which was great.

What was your experience working with the support team?

I really mostly worked with Amy and Jess. She was so great at responding and so helpful. I have two toddlers and run two businesses. And so there were a couple of times when I would have to call her or email her and be like, 'I'm so embarrassed. I know that you guys have already told us this information, but I can't find it.' And she was always so kind.

Who would you recommend this program to?

If you're a business owner and you need to figure out how to get to that next level and you have tried everything or you feel like you're at a loss, this is definitely the program to pick. You're going to refine everything that you know about your business. You're going to understand more about who you are and you're going to build a tribe of people that really are thinking outside the box.
