Hi, this is Rubin. I live in Prosper, Texas and I work in the information technology industry. I just bought a new home and brought Matthew as my home inspector.

After working with RSH Engineering, my investment is now protected. So I highly recommend RSH engineering because they have the expertise in their area like they take care of you, they are going to be there to support you throughout the entire building process.
What hesitations did you have before hiring an engineer?
At first I thought, why pay more or hiring an engineer? Because I haven't actually built a home past and I also thought it was kind of extra money for me to spend while the builder was already going to take care of a lot of standards and processes. In fact, the city also is involved with respect to the inspection process so I was kind of like relying more on the builder and trusting the builder and the city.
Why did you decide to hire an independent engineer despite those hesitations?
However, like buyer standpoint in addition to the standards or the checks that the city or the builder asks it is important for the buyer to also do their due diligence and keep check on things so that you get the results to your satisfaction. The number one benefit of hiring an engineer for your home purchases totally rely on the engineer and you have somebody by your side who can represent things on your behalf.
What specific technical advantages did the engineer provide?
You also learn many nuances that you do not know from engineering standpoint for example, you take a framing or the structures so when it is looked at from an engineer's viewpoint it is definitely important and it is kind of like easy to find the defects or faults so that you could take the corrective actions or you could demand any changes that is needed from a builder.
What is your advice to someone building a home who is unsure about hiring an inspector?
If you're sitting on the fence my recommendation to you is it's your home, you spend so much of money on your home and it's kind of very important for you to get it to your satisfaction. If you're investing time to build a home I would do it to perfection and absolutely guidance from an engineer like Matthew who has engineering experience background. Say you spend like millions of dollars on your home the portion which Matthew charges or any inspector for that matter charges is kind of peanuts, I would say.
