The interview
What does 'gift different' mean to you?
Gift different for me means giving someone a gift not only that they'll appreciate, but a gift that they'll remember in years to come. I remember when so-and-so gave me this Perfect Gift card, and I was able to go here and get this I had been wanting for years. It's giving variety to gift-giving.
What challenges were you facing with other gifting methods?
Some of the challenges I ran into, everybody doesn't have Zelle or have Zelle set up to do it and know that they received it. I was looking for something for my brother who didn't really get out at the time. So, the gift card was, I was able to do that, and he was able to just go online and use it.
What do you like about the mobile compatibility of Perfect Gift?
I like Perfect Gift because it's Apple Pay-friendly. All my family uses Apple, so if they wanna put it on their phone, they can. On the weekend and stuff, I don't even carry a purse, so the ability to just roll with just my phone and not a big purse and still be able to make purchases and do whatever I need to do, that's a good thing.
How does the platform handle security and financial transfers?
Since Perfect Gift, I no longer have to transfer money from the one account that's connected to my Cash App. So if it gets hacked or something like that, it's no big deal 'cause there's never really any money in there anyway unless I transfer. With Perfect Gift, I like the fact that it's connected with PayPal. If there's an issue, they're gonna give you your money back.
How do you use the personalization features?
I'm a personal person, so for example, if I'm doing a baby gift, I'm gonna do something that I make, and I personalize it with the baby's name on it. So with Perfect Gift and being able to personalize the cards with either a picture, a saying, or whatever you wanna do, that appeals to me 'cause I like personalized. It just says to that person when they open that gift, 'Wow, they put a lot of thought into this.'
What kind of response do you get from your family when using this service?
With my family, it's a thumbs up or appreciate it, and you get a response. And then it's security for me letting me know that they got it because they're actually responding to the fact that thank you or I got it, appreciate it.
Why choose a Perfect Gift card over a specific retailer like Amazon?
It gives the individual you're sending it to an option to purchase what they want, as opposed to getting a Amazon gift card and having to go to only Amazon to get what they want. Whereas with the Perfect Gift, they can go anywhere, to the grocery store, to the shopping center. You know they're gonna use it 'cause there's variety in where they can use it.
