The interview

What was your initial impression of working with Dr. Sharon Melnick regarding your specific work challenge?

When I first started working with Dr. Sharon, I thought for sure she wasn't gonna be able to help me overcome the fact that I worked for a narcissist. Because if you read a lot of the literature, it says they're impossible. And yet, she helped me conquer the impossible.

What were the tangible outcomes of your work together?

Not only did I make it a more successful and powerful relationship, but I actually turned the tables and was able to get what my team and I needed to increase our capabilities and our compensation at the company. If that's not proof in the pudding, I don't know what is.

Can you describe the situation you were facing when you sought coaching?

I am a Chief Information or Chief Technology Officer. It was a really interesting time when I had recently joined a company that was going through some pretty radical transformation. My boss was unable to clearly articulate that and yet held me to standards that I felt I was not only achieving but exceeding. I had a disconnect, which is very unlike me.

What resonated with you most when you first encountered Dr. Melnick's work?

As I started looking at how I could resolve the disconnect, I came across some of Dr. Sharon Melnick's information. What she wrote about and then in speaking with her resonated so much about how to find my control and my power back so I could be more effective and therefore be happier with what I was doing was exactly the medicine I needed.

What is a specific takeaway or mantra you use now from the coaching?

I now have like a little Dr. Sharon voice in my head that when I get stuck with a problem or I'm really starting to feel the stress bubble back up, I pause and I remind myself: what is within my control? It is such an important mantra for high performers who always believe that they can actually change and accommodate and make everything work.

How would you describe Dr. Melnick's coaching methodology and skills?

All of her tactics really helped me take a beat and versus just diving straight into problem solving, first even identifying was I going to solve the right problem. She is an incredibly insightful listener and outstanding at collaborating through problems. Her approach makes it feel like it's something specific for me, but it's tried and true and it's gonna work because she knows it has from other clients.

What final advice do you have for someone considering Horizon Point Inc?

For anyone who might be on the fence for working with Dr. Melnick or Horizon Point, every single penny provides such an ROI, a return on investment, that you can't even comprehend. It seems like it's a big commitment, but the commitment is actually one that you need to make for yourself.
