The interview

Why was it important for you to return to the Summit of Love?

It was important for us to come back because the first time we were here, Annie Nevin gave a concept that each individual has a blind spot, but the couple as an entity also has its blind spot. This can only be illuminated and transformed if you're in a container with other amazing couples who you trust and respect. Coming back has been immersing ourselves in a three-and-a-half-day experience to really see where are the blind spots in our relationship of what we can't possibly see.

What is the value of being surrounded by other couples in this environment?

Jennifer mentioned the common phrase that you are the result of the five people you spend the most time with. For couples committed to growth, it is important to be surrounded by other inspiring couples doing the work. Alex added that these couples have tools, processes, and codes that they don't have, including wisdom from couples who have been together for 20 or 30-plus years.

What specific tools did you gain for handling conflict?

One of the most powerful tools was a practical process to use when one or both partners are triggered. Alex learned how to really soothe Jennifer's nervous system and how to co-regulate both of them. They also received a reframe on 'winning'—instead of winning the argument, the goal is to see who can be the first one to bring the relationship back to homeostasis.

How did the small group processes impact your experience?

Jennifer found the small group process powerful because they could share something they wanted support with and get unique perspectives from other couples. Some couples had already solved the issue they were dealing with and provided wisdom from the other side. It normalized their experience and made them feel less alone.

What is the overall result of attending the summit for your relationship?

The growth experienced, the sense of intimacy, and the connection felt like getting 'plugged into the universal heart.' Alex described the fuel they received as individuals and as a couple as extraordinary. They are taking back specific practices to use forever in their relationship.

Speaker 1: Hey, I'm Alex Moscow, and this is my amazing wife, Jennifer Hudye-Moscow. And our couple's name is Jalex. It was important for us to come back to the Summit of Love because the first time we were here, Annie Nevin gave a concept of each individual in a couple has its blind spot, but the couple as an entity also has its blind spot that can only be illuminated and transformed if you're in a container with other amazing couples who you trust, respect. And coming back has just been immersing ourselves in a three-and-a-half-day experience to be with other couples to really see where are the blind spots in our relationship of what we can't possibly see. And the growth that we experienced here, the sense of intimacy and connection, every time we come back it's like getting plugged into the universal heart in our relationship. So the fuel that we get from it as individuals, as a couple, and just also connecting and learning from such amazing couples has just been extraordinary. Speaker 2: There's the common phrase in the personal development world that you are the result of the five people that you spend the most time with, and I think it's so important for us as couples who are committed to love and growth and evolution to be surrounded by other inspiring couples that are doing the work and are committed to true love and being together forever. Speaker 1: So 1 of the extraordinary things about being surrounded by other amazing couples is they have so many tools, processes, codes that we don't have. We have our own practices, our own processes that, like, really impact us and really fuel our relationship, but to see all these other couples that are also living it and have these tools that have made such a big difference in their marriage, and certain couples have been together for 20, 30-plus years, it's just been so inspiring, and to really learn these things. And we can take what we love and bring it back into our lives and we leave the rest, it's just been extraordinary. And so 1 of the most powerful tools that I received from this Summit of Love was a practice that I can use when we're both triggered. Whether she's triggered or I'm triggered, we're both triggered, we have a really practical process that we can use now of how I know how to really soothe her nervous system and to really help to co-regulate both of us. And 1 of the things that I'm definitely taking away, we're, we're both kind of achievers, we like to win at things, and so the reframe that Annie gave us to who can really come back to homeostasis first. Like, who can be the first 1 to not, like, win the argument, but who can be the first 1 to bring us back to us? So I just see that as such a powerful tool that we can use forever in our relationship. Speaker 2: 1 of the most powerful processes from this Summit of Love was when we got into small group of other couples and shared something that we wanted support with in our relationship. And what was unique about it was getting unique perspectives from other couples, some of them who have already solved the issue that we were dealing with and being able to provide that wisdom from the other side, but also seeing it from multiple different perspectives and lenses was so useful. And it had me feel less alone, you know, in, in the experience of, "Oh my gosh, we may be the only ones going through this," to just normalize it and really get support from other people we admire. Speaker 1: If you're a couple that really values your growth together and your intimacy ever-expanding, you have to come to the Summit of Love. Speaker 2: love you. Speaker 1: I love you more.
